-Passes through audio as well as video
Cons: -No cons
Other Thoughts: Found a great deal on Newegg on a small form-factor refurb PC and wanted to use it as a home-theater PC but it only has VGA (ugh) and Display Port. TV of course is only HDMI and this little dohickey works like a dream without any messing with settings on the PC or TV. Was worried about the sound, but it passes 5.1 effortlessly. IT JUST WORKS!READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Silicon Power 32GB Blaze B30 USB 3.0 Flash Drive (SP032GBUF3B30V1K)
Pros: Nice appearance
Solid swivel lock
Cons: Write errors
Other Thoughts: Lots of activity in the Windows Event Viewer of NTFS errors and lost data. I've never had a flash drive that gets this hot, too. I was forced to pitch it.
Too bad. It looks nice, and has a very solid swivel lock.
This review is from: Crucial M500 CT240M500SSD1 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
7mm or 9mm (with stick-on spacer)
Cons: Crucial SSD utility does not exist
There are faster drives (but few in this price range)
No cloning software included
Other Thoughts: This was a great buy. Everything just worked the way as anticipated (I used Acronis Clone Disk function booted from CD and connected the SSD to the PC using a cheap SATA-USB adapter). The hardest part was working with the tiny screws in my laptop. I am getting about 490MB/s reads according to AS SSD Benchmark. My i7 lappie now goes from power-up to all my many startup programs running in 18 seconds. Wow!
I only knocked an egg off since Crucial does not offer a utility to control certain functions (like Secure Erase which returns the drive to its original condition) and monitoring. Hopefully they are working on such a thing.
My drive shipped with MU05 (the latest) firmware. If you have MU03, a downloadable file (for Windows) is available on their web site.
