Astro Gaming A50 Battlefield 4 Wireless Headset Black

5 out of 5 eggs Amazing Headset 03/05/2014

This review is from: Astro Gaming A50 Battlefield 4 Wireless Headset Black

Pros: - The most comfortable surround sound headset I have ever worn. It's somewhat heavier but you don't notice.
- Wireless works flawlessly, when using with my PC or PS4 there is no cut-out or buzz.
- Minimal setup/Easy to use and take advantage of features like 3 different present sound settings, VOIP/Game volume bias adjustment.
- Cloth cushions on headband and ears which reduces heat during long use. Also doesn't wear out like the vinyl on my old G35 headset.
- Aesthetically pleasing.
- Most importantly the sound quality is unbelievable. The surround effect is precise and clean. The lows are low and the highs are high!

Cons: - Low-end frequencies cut out. It is unlikely most will notice this, I have A LOT of experience in the audio quality market. Basically the effect it gives is if you're playing Battlefield on setting 3 (the higher bass setting) you can hear the low-end frequencies dip out. Best way to remedy this is to switch to setting 2, which I'd say is the best setting anyways. That being said it's not much of a con because the low-end bass is still phenomenal for a headset and most definitely impressive for wireless.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this headset after my Logitech G35 got absolutely DESTROYED by my dog. (R.I.P.) A friend from work had told me about Astro and said he had the A40s which are clearly more than my G35s but I LOVE good audio quality and he told me they could not be beaten. So, after watching a few video reviews I decided to pick up the A50s because I wanted the wireless feature. I had previously tried Turtle Beach and Triton headsets. The Triton's sounded OKAY, but too many issues for me. The Triton's felt cheap, had an overly complex setup process and BUZZ.. Buzz I also found in the Turtle Beach headset.

I haven't had ANY complaints about my A50s yet. My audio mic comes through clearer than my G35s, the headset itself is leaps and bounds more comfortable. If you're reading this and you're coming from a high-quality wired headset TRUST ME.. Wireless is sooooooooo nice. I love not having the issue of working around my wire. This is a no-compromise setup if you were to ask me.

Final Fantasy XIV: Realm Reborn PC Game

4 out of 5 eggs Captured for the first time.. in a while. 02/19/2014

This review is from: Final Fantasy XIV: Realm Reborn PC Game

Pros: This game has so much to do, it is beautiful, it is fun, and it is Final Fantasy.

The lore is awesome, the game play is fluid.. I am a SWTOR, EQ, WOW, and FF11 veteran and this game is really on par with all of the above.

Cons: Load screens aren't much of a con for me, but I think it would be nice to not have them but I understand it helps them keep the game stable. They're super short between zones.

Linkshell/Friends list. I wish they would just make the Linkshell the standard form of friend list. I just want to be able to use my Username and communicate with all my friends across each character

Acer Iconia Tab A200-10g08u NVIDIA Tegra 2 1GB Memory 8GB EMMC 10.1
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Using as a boot drive the boot times went from about 4-5 minutes to under 1 minute, cost is not bad

Cons: Set up can be tedious if you have never set up a boot drive and a primary drive. It just took time to figure out so I recommend reading guides before you get one.
(not the drives fault)

Other Thoughts: 5/5
