3 out of 5 eggs Put it in an x16 slot. 09/29/2014

This review is from: AVerMedia C027 AVerTV HD DVR

Pros: It runs well in an X1, though it can't stream well unless it's in a higher-up slot. I ended up testing it in my Gfx card slot, and it worked great there. For some reason, it bogs down while streaming otherwise.

The software is simple and it works, sometimes.
It decodes HDCP (I assume, as it loads up PS3 video)
The quality's good, though 1080i is only alright but that's what you get here. (Not that consoles can even use that)

Cons: Do you like crashy software? Because you're going to get crashy software. When loading up video from the PS3, occasionally it crashes. And when I say crashes, I mean it stops working, closes out, and keeps the task running.

So end it with Task Manager, right? Wrong. Doesn't work. Ending process will do nothing for you, you are forced to restart. Better luck next time right? Wrong, because guess what it's probably doing to do when you load the computer back up?

If not for that vicious crash-loop cycle and it bogging down for really what should be no reason while streaming (What is it doing, making multiple copies? Shouldn't the load be on my computer, not the card?) , it would be pretty alright. Wish I could disable those stupid bars on the screen in another way than making my mouse sit still, though.

Other Thoughts: That crash-loop is mind-destroying, though. My other reviews are.. not entirely accurate, I would've edited them if Newegg would get with almost every other site that has posting in existence and make an edit function, but I guess that's too much to ask out of a site for TECHNOLOGY (Of which that gripe is relevant to, clearly).

2 out of 5 eggs 09/24/2014

This review is from: AVerMedia C027 AVerTV HD DVR

Pros: Runs smooth, sound's good, capture's not bad, etc.

Cons: When you try to stream with it, it stutters like a person with Parkinson's having a stroke. It's about as bad as it gets.

Other Thoughts: Thought HDCP was to blame for problems but as it turns out it's just that the software was made by hilariously incompetent developers and since it's proprietary sourced there's no way for anyone to un-break their junky program.

2 out of 5 eggs Oh boy, more proprietary bull. 09/24/2014

This review is from: AVerMedia C027 AVerTV HD DVR

Pros: It's quick and works well as long as you're only attempting to get footage to exist on your screen. Sound's good, video's good, etc. It's cheap too, I guess.

Cons: HDCP. You're going to have to jump through every hurdle physically possible (and even some that don't) to even be able to try streaming with this.

Do not bother if you intend to stream, your only options will be to get tricked drivers (and good luck finding them), to use Component/RCA/etc (Which are terrible, and you could buy something way cheaper for that), or to suck it up and never actually stream (Then why did you even bother buying this).

It is very much not worth the money you will be paying and hours you will be devoting to try to make this thing work. It will not.

The software is total unredeemable garbage as well - It looks like it was made in the 90s and runs accordingly. It does function and fairly easily, but since it's extremely proprietary (Just like HDCP is), you're never going to find a better alternative.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to stream some gameplay off consoles for my buddies that are far away, but it looks as though I'm never going to be able to do that because of a hybrid of the utterly terrible program and worthless HDCP. You're better off not even bothering.
