This review is from: ZALMAN Turbo Cooling Notebook Cooler ZM-NC3500
Pros: Moves air, keeping temps down
Large fan keeps noise level acceptable - no whiny 80mms!
Cons: Minor considerations: Fan exhausts at bottom, but heated air is less dense than cold (lol physics); What does that button on the side actually do beside change the light from blue to red? See Other Thoughts for potentially forthcoming modding
Other Thoughts: The fan is good at moving air, though I am considering disassembling it and reversing the fan's orientation to blow air upward (and into the laptop's intake) rather than downward as it currently does - I doubt that this will be too difficult as the screws are easy enough to find. Hopefully that change will help improve its cooling further (plus, cool hands - neat?!) though your mileage may vary depending on how your laptop exhausts. Maybe if I get really bored I'll mod it into the bottom of the laptop. :DREAD FULL REVIEW
Pros: Evacuate/intake 70.5CFM without making a huge racket
PWM control option, included power adapters for constant speed
Cons: Nothing functionally - minor aesthetic issue of the rounded housing not covering the whole exhaust area, but it's not really a problem unless you were going to use it for a vacuum or something and couldn't adapt it or something. Seriously, these things move air.
Other Thoughts: Added two of these into my system to replace some noisier old fans, plus one to my brother's computer for additional intake. Moves air en masse into/out of the case with a very tolerable low hum, which is pretty much always below ambient noise (a decided advantage over the old fans, which people sometimes complained about when they spun up to max speed)READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Picked this up to add USB3 connectivity to an older system and it has worked flawlessly to date. Good data throughput (I only have a few USB3 devices, but the Patriot Supersonic I use now gets its full 100/70 MB read/write performance, which is such a great step up from my old USB2 sticks)
Cons: None to dateREAD FULL REVIEW
