This review is from: Sennheiser HD 428 SC Closed Circumaural Hi-Fi Headphone, 4.5ft Single Sided Cord
Pros: At the sale prices (of up to 63% off MSRP) these headphones represent an amazing value! Yes, 5 eggs at the purchase price. The sound quality and accuracy is simply startling at this price point. Very good comfort for my average size head and ears. Comfortable for many hours in a row. Reasonable passive sound isolation from average ambient intrusion. Remarkably durable at this price point.
Cons: (something has to go under "cons" so here we go)
Subdued styling will garner NO MAD PROPS from Posers.
Ummm, cord is of insufficient length or strength to replace my tow line when I Skijor with my Chinook?
Other Thoughts: Just like classic quality headphones, the Sennheiser 428 headphones "break in" with use. First 10 hours brought demonstrable changes. Next 20 hours saw continued improvement. By 60 hours, the rate of improvement has flattened out for my hearing.
These are so inexpensive that I don't have to worry about their long term survival, though they have tolerated falls and impacts well thus far.
If you want a set of headphones that won't break the bank to buy, won't break your ears with distorted or crummy sound, and won't break your heart if they get lost, get these on sale.
This review is from: Vinturi V1010R Red Wine Aerator
Pros: Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Makes your red wine taste like it has been permitted to breathe for a couple hours. My wife received our first Vinturi as a present. We critically pulled out a reasonable $15 table wine, opened it and tasted it immedeately. It was appropriately OK. We then ran the next taste sample through the Vinturi and the effect was nothing short of remarkable. The wine opened up so beautifully that it was hard to believe the 2 tastings had come from the same bottle. We have run this same test with many friends and family members (with many different reds) and all have remarked on the substantial improvement caused by using the Vinturi to pour a recently-opened bottle of red wine.
When New Egg started to carry this product, we instantly grabbed 5 more (the limit for single purchase at the time of our order) to give as gifts and presents. All recipients have been very pleased.
Cons: I have not discovered any cons for this product. The only associated con that I might ascribe is that so few folks have been exposed to this product with the profound positive effect it has. If everyone knew how well this product does what it is designed to do, it would be as common in a household as a corkscrew.
Other Thoughts: There are other products available that are designed to aerate wine. The majority are single glasses and decanters that are more expensive and take longer to work.
This product even sounds cool when you pour through it!
My recommendation: Buy it, Try it, review it.
I anticipate seeing 5 stars from anyone who has used this product.
(I have not tried the white wine version yet, but expect to do so soon and will review that when I have had ample experience ;))
Pros: Inexpensive (also got it with free shipping) and enough connectors and power to get most low-level machines started. This is the supply that sits on the shelf to provide an immedeate replacement for your non-tech family member, neighbor or friend who just had the unit in their 5 year-old machine die. Our local Boy Scouts have an annual fund-raiser where old computer hardware is donated and sold. I usually build a couple Linux boxes for this event from old hardware and this PS is perfect for these machines. (The boys also learn how a machine comes together and get exposed to Open Source. Learning > Landfills.)
Cons: None for this unit at this price and what it is being asked to do.
Cons are whiners that say,"at this price, I want a 1kw with modular cables and Gold certified." Get real. If you need a real power supply for a real computer, spend the required money and get one.
Other Thoughts: Wishing all my fellow Eggers a Happy Holidays and joyous New Year!READ FULL REVIEW
