SYBA SY-PCI40010 PCI SATA II (3.0Gb/s) 4 Port RAID 0/1/5/10 JBOD Card
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Price, number of ports, SATA2, PCI interface, supports RAID 10 which is nice and not something you often see on cards of this price.

Cons: RAID-5 performance (but this applies to all consumer boards) is terrible. File copy speed is 10mb sec. When Raid-1 or anything but raid-5 speed is 30-40 mb sec at minimum.
Chipset on motherboard gave same results so this isn't a fault of the board, rather limitation of consumer hardware.

Other Thoughts: The hardware limit of creating a 2.3TB array is wrong. I created a 4TB raid-5 and Raid-10 array with zero problems. I used the GPT partition scheme under Windows server 03.

TOPOWER TP-6208BB Black SGCC Metal ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: less than 1 day

Pros: Price plus the number of drive bays and cooling fan slots. Also the fact it's not fancy with flashing leds or other stuff. Case seems to be decent. I wouldn't sit on it or be rough with it, it just isn't made for that.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Using this to house my server for data backups. You don't need a fancy case for a server. What you do need though is drive bays and plenty of cooling slots

Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: less than 1 day

Pros: Price and capacity. Seems to work fine even after I backed up 1.7TB worth of data to it over my lan.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Using this as a backup drive in a server running windows server 2003. I use a 1.5tb seagate drive in my main workstation and it's still going strong after 6 months so I hope this 2tb drive won't let me down either.
