This review is from: ASRock Z77 Extreme3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Good Price for what it offers
OK When working.
Cons: 1) Getting boards out of SN order over the last year.
2) BIOS version also out of order.
3) One board had intermittent video issues that took 3 months to narrow down to the board.
4) Had to buy "extra" board because RMA was so slow
5) SATA connectors are on an 90 degree angle, making them difficult to work with in my standard mini-tower cases.
Other Thoughts: Got a bad board. Every few weeks onboard video would go crazy. Flashed colors. Discrete cards locked image. Only solution was to reboot and lose data. Luckily I had a 2nd system to help me narrow down the faulty part. It was this board.
I then noticed from all the boards I ordered that the serial #'s and BIOS versions we out of order. 1st one I bought had one SN. 2nd board (the Problem one) had another and a newer BIOS Then the 3rd I bought, which should be new, had a LOWER SN than the 2nd and an older 1.10 BIOS.
Did I get a return with an intermittent problem for the 2nd one and another return on this one with an older Serial number?
I was forced to buy a replacement because the system was cfg'd with this board and the RMA process is like pulling teeth. This is the last one I buy. It's one problem out of maybe my last 20, but it was a difficult problem to find.
Trust is gone. I think I am going back to give someone else my business.
I was amazed though. Ordered one day and it in my hands 13 hours later. But that doesn't repair the trust in the products...
This review is from: BELKIN F8E081-BLU Standard Mouse Pad
Pros: It works
No other pros Compared to the F8E089 series.
Cheap, so not a great waste of $$$, but a waste none the less.
Cons: Came bent in packaging, and Stayed Bent.
Much Lighter than the GOOD Belkin Mouse pad (F8E089)
Other Thoughts: Cheap, light and doesn't stay where it should. Plus it came bent and hasn't "unfolded".
I had put in for a price alert on the F8E089 pads because they have been great. I had seen them here and elsewhere go on great sales.
I either grabbed wrong number or was a victim of bait and switch via the notification. I didn't know Belkin made a cheap Mouse Pad, so watch out.
Stick to the 089 version and watch for deals, or shipping will kill you.
This review is from: Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Upgrade
Pros: None for me, but for the Younger crowd familiar with smartphones and tablets I am sure it will be great.
Cons: Seems more like a limiter put on Windows 7.
The dreaded TOC in Microsofts tic-toc, good-bad versions
Painful to install
Wouldn't install properly and allow programs to still work.
Limitations and a PUSH on Microsoft store, products, Browsers
Too much change
Other Thoughts: I REALLY hate it. I bought 2 copies, and one won't be installed. I did install one a a HP Touch Smart. I think my Daughter will like it. She's into Smart Phones and Tablets and easily adapts to what's in front of her. It was a hassle installing though. Hours spent first time, only to see if fail because it wouldn't allow the programs previously operational under 7 to work, so it took a LONG time to roll back as well. But at least it did that.
2nd Attempt works, but I had to select Keep data, but not program functionality.
It's just to radical a change for me. Plus I hate how it's forcing the Windows Store on us. Microsoft is moving towards a Business Model like Apple and it will be too restrictive for me. I am considering moving to Linus and supporting that. I hope The Linux community takes up where Microsoft left us.
I feel Microsoft has put BARS on windows. Trouble is, with the same basic foundation for the software, the bars are on the WRONG side. It's still going to be very much open to the "Bad Guys" Damaging the system, while at the same time making it harder for us to get in and understand what the Bad guys did.
It may be fine for the younger crowd, but I am too old and set in my ways to have to waste man-hours learning to do the same things I always did, but with a different looks and placements.
I hated the change to the Ribbon, and I hate this as well. I wish they'd have considered "Visual" backward compatibility so the changes weren't so dramatic for us who are set in our ways. It's all still there, just so radically different looking.
I feel wicked old now...
