Logitech MX Anywhere 2 Wireless Mobile Mouse
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

5 out of 5 eggs Corrections to my Previous Review 09/11/2015

This review is from: Logitech MX Anywhere 2 Wireless Mobile Mouse

Pros: Please refer to my previous review.

Cons: Please refer to my previous review.

Other Thoughts: It seems that the "blame" for spotty Bluetooth experience does not entirely fall on Logitech's shoulders. In my case the problem can be tracked to the Bluetooth software stack used by Intel for their WiFi + BT combo cards. While Intel's newer BT 4.0 cards work in the HS (high speed) mode, the most recent drivers (as of this writing v18.1.15xx) still have issues with the Bluetooth Smart / LE (low energy) mode that seems to be needed for this mouse to operate properly.

At this point most users will most likely wait for Intel to fix their drivers. If you cannot wait the other option is to stick to the included USB receiver or (if you are technically inclined) change your BT card to one with different chipset. I switched to Qualcom / Atheros one and now I can share this mouse between laptops.

3 out of 5 eggs Great with USB receiver. Half Baked with Bluetooth 08/14/2015

This review is from: Logitech MX Anywhere 2 Wireless Mobile Mouse

Pros: Sleek and comfortable for on-the-go notebook use.
Big enough for desktop users with medium sized hands.
Quality materials all around. Slimmer USB receiver (protrudes less on outside of the USB port).
Good connectivity and range when using USB receiver.
Connects via Bluetooth & works properly with ChromeOS (on a recent Asus Chromebook)

Cons: Minimalist documentation.
Smallish On/Off switch -- tiny when compared to the old Anywhere MX model.
I was unable to pair it with up-to-date Win 7 Pro and recent Linux with 3.16 kernel using Bluetooth (tried on multiple computers with different Intel BT 4.0 adapters to no avail). It seems that you will need Bluetooth Smart and Win 8 or higher to use that connectivity option.

Other Thoughts: Gentler scroll wheel "click" than other Logitech performance products -- may be good or bad depending on your preferences.

2 out of 5 eggs Great on Paper. Reality is a bit Different 03/04/2015

This review is from: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 USB 3.0 HDMI uATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Inexpensive. OK features & layout for an entry system. On board USB3 chip (albeit no internal header).

Cons: Unstable.

Other Thoughts: I had it running with 4-core FX chip & 32GB of quality memory. Unfortunately when loaded with Win 7 every so often it will BSOD or just freeze for no apparent reason. Similar issues with Debian based Linux distro I tested.
