PNY VCGGTX7803XPB-OC G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: * Plays almost my games on absolute max settings
* INSANE cooling.
Min temp reached - 75F
Max temp reached - 145F (my 9800GT idled close to this cards max temp)
Ambient temperature - 70F
* Beautiful card
* Lifetime warranty once activated
* No damage from shipping
* Factory overclocked

Cons: * Not as fast as I expected it to be (see below)
* HUGE card. I cannot stress how large this card is. Due to my own ignorance, I had to cut out a part of my hard drive bays to fit the card. Assumed my full size case would fit it no problem. Also covers up my motherboards SATA connectors (ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0)
* Expensive

Other Thoughts: My rig: (still being improved)

PNY GTX 780 Benchmarks. All of which were done by me.

GTA IV - Medium Settings/Texture Quality - High/x8 Anistropic Filtering/1400x900 Resolution

Min - 21
Max - 50
Avg - 34
Tested by going on a normal rampage. Low FPS most likely due to low quality PC port.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Metro; Last Light - Quality - Very High/SSAO - x4/Texture Filtering - AF x16/Motion Blur - Normal/1400x900 Resolution/Advanced Physx - On

Min - 23
Max - 58
Avg - 43
Tested on level "Facility." Metro LL performs nicely if SSAO is on X2 or lower.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Witcher 2 - Max everything/V-sync Off/1400x900 Resolution

Min - 30
Max - 174
Avg - 105

In all of the above games tested I made sure I was seeing the minimum FPS by getting into combat, ect. Also, Battlefield 3 runs very nicely on max settings so I didn't bother running benchmarks for those curious about BF3.

This was an upgrade from my good ol' BFG Tech 9800GT 512MB. Since the GTX 780 was such an improvement, I expected it to just power through any game no matter what the title or settings. I was let down though. Please note that it wasn't PNY I was disappointed with.

Tried running my GTX 780 as the primary graphics card and had my 9800GT as a dedicated PhysX card. After doing some testing, I found out that the 9800GT PhysX dedicated if anything, degraded performance.

If this review appears to be a mess, sorry about that

While the GTX 780 does run The Witcher 2 and Skyrim on max quality EASILY, there's still titles such as Metro; Last Light, Crysis (the first) and GTA IV it doesn't run so easily. On my native 1400x900 resolution, all three games went slightly below 30 FPS at least once during gameplay.

I suppose I'm just amazed that games which were released in 2007 and 2008 are still a challenge to run after all this time.

Note that this isn't the best review ever, but I felt obligated to review this card since there are no "real" reviews of it on Newegg.

ASUS K55A-RHI5N13 Notebook, B Grade, Scratch and Dent Intel Core i5 3210M (2.50GHz) 6GB Memory 750GB HDD 15.6
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: I got this refurbished laptop over a year ago from Sears on Black Friday for only $350. There weren't even any flaws with the laptop. Not a single scratch or dent anywhere that I could find.

This laptops specs are just as good as they look. It's a given that it's more than great for simply doing work or surfing the internet. The Intel HD 3000 graphic card allows you to play a fair variety of games such as Call of Duty 4, World of Warcraft (3.3.5) and Spore all while getting great FPS.

The 6GB of RAM (more than my gaming desktop ironically) is great for multi-tasking. No worries about slowing the computer down.

The processor... Well.. It's my first Intel. It's done just fine I suppose.

The advertised 750GB HDD was only 698GB for me, but that was still big enough even though I like to keep backups of my games and movies.

Nice large touch-pad in-case a few of you don't enjoy those irritatingly small ones.

Battery life is average. If you switch around some settings to save power, you can extend the battery life by a considerable amount.

Cons: Dis-assembly for cleaning is not enjoyable.

Two USB 3.0 and one 2.0. I don't understand why they didn't use all 3.0's.

Internal speakers aren't very loud when in your lap. Sound is amplified when set on a solid flat surface such as a desk or table. Also the audio drivers don't utilize 5.1 surround sound very well even after tweaking settings.

Other Thoughts: Extremely happy with this laptop. Was forced to replace my gaming desktop with this for a few months while the PSU was burnt out. To make it simple, lets just say I wasn't let down.
