Corsair Gaming K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Blue LED - Cherry MX Red Switches
  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Keyboard has excellent feedback, very sturdy & durable construction. It is to me the ALMOST perfect keyboard, with basic keys & critical media keys. However ever since the original K70 model, they have had one MAJOR flaw.

Cons: LED failure! It's this keyboards certain Kryptonite. This is now my 4th K70/K95 that has had LED failure within a short span of ownership. My original 2 Gunmetal K70's both started having LED's fail about the same time(6-11months). Both boards were replaced by the new revised K95 & this particular K70. The K95 with White LED's and this with Blue. The K95 had multiple white LED's fail in 6 months time, and now here we have this K70 failure in about 11 months time, first LED has gone dark. I have multiple Logitech & Saitek keyboards that are well over 3 years old and do not have any LED/lighting failure.

Other Thoughts: When I last had talked to Corsair on my last RMA, that had assured me, this LED issue was an issue of the past. I did not buy a $130 Keyboard with one of the key features being the backlighting, to have key features failure within a less then a years time. I love Corsair products as they do have tremendous customer support & quality *other* products, but man have they dropped the ball on this one. Enough to take my business elsewhere. I am sure if I contact them for an RMA, they will likely tell me my product carries the original products warranty, and that I am out of luck. I cannot & do NOT recommend this if a major reason for buying this keyboard is the lighting. Failure is imminent.

Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5 GHz LGA 1150 88W BX80646I54690K Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4600
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: After basically being forced to upgrade, I was in a dilemma of either waiting a week for skylake or going with the Devil's Canyon. Being as I was able to get the EVGA Z97 Classified for $200 & this CPU & a mild discount, while keeping my still very good ram, the choice was clear. So far this chip overclocks very well, rock solid stable at 4.7Ghz with 1.28v. Though I seem to hit a wall at 4.7, as to get anything stable after that, far more voltage is required. Runs very cool compared to my past 3570k, and closer to temps of the 2500k, which gives me comfort in terms of longevity while overclocked. Performance gain over a 2500k clock for clock depending on the application is between 5-15%.

Cons: If I hadn't been forced to upgrade, real world performance is hardly if at all noticeable over an overclocked 2500k or 3570k.

Other Thoughts: Being as Skylake is officially out, this chip really is not worth investing in unless you're set on keeping your DDR3 & just upgrading from a lower end 1150 CPU. Though you can get some of the high end 1150 motherboards at a fraction of the cost right now! All in all though, this is an excellent processor, just wish Intel would push the envelope on performance a little more, though being as AMD cannot currently compete, they have no reason too sadly :( Until then, we get our 5-10% performance boost from generation to generation.
