Pros: 8Tb for an affordable price (2 stars).
Cons: Unfortunately drive did not pass tests, Fails Seagates DOS Diagnostic software with Error code AA6CAE50. Tests ran on 2 different computers. Reliability is in question?
Other Thoughts: Would not recommend until they work the bugs out of the drive. New technology has its issues, this drive is no different. I have (2) new 6Tb Seagate drives that work great, pass all the tests, so i will stay with that size for now. I buy 50-100 drives a year for personal and business use, this was the first drive in years that did not pass initial tests. Just a tip, always test drives before you place data on them.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: 5 Stars for Excellent hardware, Fast runs fairly cool when gaming. Beautiful display, nicest one Ive owned, if you like the glossy look. Audio is very nice. Lenovos web site has drivers for Windows 7 so you can go backwards and up.
Cons: -8 Stars for Windows 8, its the worst, Laptop can play games as long as you are not using Windows 8. Windows 8 compatibility with games is low. If your a GOG gamer, this laptop only runs about 30% of the games, you have to play with all kinds of settings with the hope its gonna play. Most of the time computer locks up, you cant get out of it so you have to power off.
Other Thoughts: Its unfortunate that manufacturers are forced to install Windows 8; Windows 7 is vastly superior in ease of us, compatiblity, and speed. If you install a third party firewall and watch all kinds of background files trying to access the internet, not a big fan with being forced to have apps always running. Just for info you dont get a Windows 8 disk or sticker on laptop, Windows 8 has its own partition.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Installed in a Thecus N2520 NAS, working in Raid 1 no issues so far. I have at least 6 drives in operation.
Cons: None so far, but seeing the bad luck other reviewers are having, im hoping they last a few years.
Other Thoughts: It seems that all hard drive manufactures have the same issue, longevity: I have a variety of hard drives; run raid 0,1 or no raid; scsi, ide, sata, 3.5in, 2.5 in, 4500rpm-10,000rpm drives; the 1 year to 5 year warranty drives; but most of my drive failures are bad sectors with drives that are over 1Tb. It seems in my experience the smaller the size the drive, the less likely the problems.READ FULL REVIEW
