ARCTIC MX-2 (4g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound, Non-Electricity Conductive, Non-Capacitive
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: There may be more hi-tech compounds out there, but this stuff is tried and true. If the (much more expensive) fancier stuff works better, it's by a small enough margin not to justify the cost.

This stuff and a good sink with heat pipes and a high flow fan ought to solve most cooling needs.

Cons: It's not free?

Other Thoughts: I've built >10 rigs in the last 5 years and with the exception of a couple where the client asked specifically for a different compound, this is what I use. It just plain works.

ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2, CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Multi-Directional Mount, 92mm PWM Fan

Pros: I bought this FIVE years ago, and it's still going strong. The rig it's in is horribly antiquated, but it still checks email and runs some old games (when I'm in the mood for some C&C Generals! lol)

I've got it on a P4 3.8Ghz (Prescott) on an Abit mobo, and it's oc'd to 4.3Ghz(!)... stable. Before I switched to this sink it'd get up close to 120°C at just over 4Ghz clock speed. Its been running stable at 4.3Ghz at around 94°C full load since 2008. I couldn't be happier.

Cons: None really. The fins are sharp, be careful...and its kinda tallish...whatever

Other Thoughts: This whole review is pretty much n/a considering what chipset I'm talking about, but if your playing around with an older box and you need some serious cooling, but don't want to screw with a liquid setup, this may be your best choice.

Hope this does someone some good.

Motorola Behind-the-Neck Bluetooth Stereo Headset Black with On Ear Music Controls (S305)

Pros: AWESOME functionality for the price! These are definitely worth the msrp of $100, and at a third that they're practically a steal.

I've had them over a year, they sound great and are undamaged. If you're not listening to music, they'll hold a charge on standby for several days. Listening to music at max or close to max volume they'll go about 4 hours.

Cons: They only con is that the max volume just isn't quite loud enough for my taste, but I like to listen to loud music at a high volume. That being said, for what they are, they're awesome.

Other Thoughts: I bought these to listen to music on my Pantech cell phone, which don't have a standard headphone jack. I didn't want to buy their junk headphones with their proprietary jack. I stumbled on these, and couldn't be happier.

Two phones later and I'm still using them, just for the convenience of being wireless.
