This review is from: CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W 80 PLUS BRONZE Active PFC ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply
Pros: It's very quiet and powers my rig. I have an AMD 1090T (stock) and a GTX 560Ti. I have three case fans, SSD, spinning hard drive, blu-ray burner, and external back-up drive.
UPDATE: after having this for a little over 4 years, one day it sizzled and started smoking like crazy. After I unplugged it and took my box outside, I saw that the PSU was leaky a fluid. It was rather pungent and viscous. Yes, it got on my mobo a little bit, and it took some time to clean it from the seams of my case, but at least it didn't explode. Good news is that while the PSU was dying/frying it did not ruin any other components. I replaced the power supply and was right back in business. Overall, I wish it lasted longer, but at least it kept its problems to itself.
Other Thoughts: I got thrown off for a minute because my mobo took a 4 pin CPU power connector and all that's on the PSU is an 8 pin one. Turns out the 8 pin is scored and can be snapped in half in order to accommodate 4 pin mobos.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: this is an update to two previous reviews.
Cons: I received a replacement fan controller from Fractal 6 months after building the rig because the controller stopped working. Initially, the fans would not keep the speed that I set and finally they stopped spinning all together.
The replacement worked for 4 months and then started behaving the same as the first.
Although Fractal's customer service and warranty help was good, I didn't want to bother with it. Thus, I purchased a digital fan controller that takes up a 5.25" bay. This is nice because I can change the speed of the fans with out reaching to the back of the case.
Other Thoughts: The case is great. Love the style, the build, the quality, and the fans are good. The fan controller, not so much.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: XIGMATEK cobra - d984 92mm HYPRO Bearing CPU Cooler
Pros: Used it on my AMD 1090T build. Once installed, it works very well. It cools just as much as the AMD stock cooler, but with significantly less noise.
I like that it's not a giant tower inside my case.
Cons: Installation. I installed it after I had the rig up and running. So I had everything in the box and decided to replace the stock cooler. I didn't have a lot of room to work with, my fault. But clamping down the locking mechanism was very trying. It felt like I was going to break the lock handle when I was trying to lock it into place. I couldn't get enough leverage to lock it with my fingers so I used needle nose pliers. That worked quickly and the heat sink is VERY secure.
Other Thoughts: I have the CPU fan running at 50% speed minimum. It is silent and the cpu idles at 23C in a 73F room. In other words it idles at ambient temperature. Under load, it maxes out at ~59C.
I use arctic silver 5.
I have ~1mm of clearance between my ram (G.SKILL RIPJAWS) and the heatsink overhang.
I thought it was a little pricey, but I'm pleased with the results, especially the sound.
