This review is from: ASUS P8H77-V LE LGA 1155 Intel H77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: reasonable price, usb 3.0.
Cons: Could not set controller to ACHI mode from IDE in BIOS, system won't boot. I have changed a few laptops from IDE to ACHI in BIOS and some laptops are 3 year old, they worked great as far as SSD goes. My 3 year old plus laptop disk WEI is 7.9 while the new desktop installed on this mobo only got 7.5 despite it has SATA 6Gbs and the laptop SATA II. Contacted ASUS support and the tech suggested modify BIOS to ACHI then re-install Win 7 as a TRY not a FIX. I am tired of reinstalling OS since I already did once and too many software needs to be reinstalled as well and most of all, since it was a TRY I do not want to waste my time if it does not work. If ASUS could come up with a FIX it should be a BIOS firmware. Very disappointed in ASUS mobo this time. I purchased a few ASUS mobos before and not getting a bad one until this time. Also RAM CONFIG that ASUS suggested was 1B and 2B, did not work. Only worked 2A and 2B (2 Crucial sticks, 8 GB ea)
Other Thoughts: Reasonable price however I am willing to spend a little more for a better mobo.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Unbeatable speed versus mechanical drives, brought new life to older slow, laptops with less money than purchasing newer laptop. A 2 year old Acer core I5 boots into desktop in 19 secs and connects to internet in another 4 to 5 secs. My latest laptop, an Asus B960 processort did a bit better than the Acer by 4 secs. Internet loads faster as well, and so did apps. All this with only SATA II. Windows 7 is the best OS for SSD, however windows in general was geared toward mechanical drive, therefore some tweaks are needed to keep the SSD drive in best performance condition such as turn off defrag, prefetch, superfetch, drive indexing, TRIM among some other tweaks. Google SSD and windows 7 (or Vista, XP) to read the full list of tweaks. Last but not least the SSD drive needs to be partitioned with 4K alignment (again google this for details). Acronis software clones hard drive and aligns the drive at the same time. A clone kit can be purchased (or some was sold bundled with the SSD)
Cons: Cost, however price has been lowered by 25% during last 3 months makes it alot more affordable.READ FULL REVIEW
