Pros: Uniform color; no backlight leakage; very well calibrated out of the box; 16:10 ratio
Cons: Connectivity (but see comment below); heavy (but I'm not carrying it around)
Other Thoughts: This is an excellent monitor. As other reviewers have noted, it comes already calibrated nearly perfectly; when I ran my calibration software, the change was very small. It is rather heavy, and deep for a flat panel monitor, but the stand holds it balanced very nicely. Having moved up from a 20" flat panel, this is a major step up. I like the 16:10 ratio, rather than the usual 16:9 in widescreen monitors. If you are looking for a monitor that will enable critical work with images, without spending $2,000 or more, this is an excellent choice. The colors and brightness are uniform from one side of the monitor, to the middle, to the other side, and there’s no backlight leakage. My computer has HDMI but no DVI ports, while this monitor has DVI but no HDMI, so I bought a separate cable with HDMI on one end and DVI-D on the other, and it works perfectly.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Rosewill R2-JBOD Aluminum 3.5" USB 2.0 DUAL-BAY External Enclosure
Pros: This is a great little box. Well made, sturdy, fits together snugly. The drives fit into the rails easily but tightly, and connect well with the SATA power and data contacts. After loading two 1 TB drives and using it for a few days, I ordered a second one of these units for future use. I appreciate being able to use the two drives independently. The USB external connection is slower than eSATA, of course, but I use these drives for backup of digital images, so the slower access speed isn't an issue. I'm using two WD "green" drives, which don't get as hot as the others, and the case barely feels warm on the outside after several hours of use. The fan is very quiet, and has its own switch.
Cons: Only downside I can think of is the lack of an eSATA connection, but computer manufacturers aren't rushing to add eSATA ports the way they once added USB ports.
Other Thoughts: All around, this is a great enclosureREAD FULL REVIEW
Pros: Nice, solid enclosure that assembles easily and precisely
Other Thoughts: I've stuffed at least a half dozen drives into external enclosures and this one by far was the easiest. Everything fits together perfectly (screw holes in enclosure actually line up with mounting holes in the drive). Drive attaches to internal circuit board, then screws hold enclosure to drive and end caps. Nicely designed and built. Drive gets a little warm during use, but not nearly warm enough to be a problem.READ FULL REVIEW
