Pros: Fast processor.
Runs Cooler than my old processor (Phenom II X4 965 Black)
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: If you're using Cooler Master 212 Plus cooler (or Evo but not 100% on that), you'll be just fine as mounting brackets will work.
As mentioned above, I upgraded from a Phenom II X4 965. I don't regret it as things that wouldn't run with my old processor just chugs right through with this i5.
This is a good bang for your buck if you're upgrading from an older generation AMD processor (or some models that are newer). Apparently if you're using an older generation of I5 (Ivy or Sandy Bridge for example) you probably won't see a big improvement (aside from some power saving features introduced with Haswell).
Go for this generation. If you're not super tight about the spec, you will love it. If you're looking for something with a bit more performance you might check the previous generations of Intel's processor.
This review is from: MSI Z87-G43 GAMING LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Was easy to install since I was using a MSI 890FXA-GD70 board previously. Didn't even have to remove the standoffs.
Very easy to setup with the installation disk. Drivers support is also pretty good. Did not come with Bent Pins or anything like that.
Cons: None that I can think of so far.
Other Thoughts: Easy to overclock through the BIOS. Though it can be somewhat confusing as there doesn't appear to be a literal OC Genie button on the motherboard itself: you need to go through the UEFI to activate it.
The Killer Network Manager could also cause problems and limit your bandwidth below the threshold of your ISP Bandwidth.
Been running about 1 month so far. Great board and will continue to use MSI in the future.
Pros: - Lots of flexibility.
- Nice button layout and configuration.
- Good driver support for Windows 7. A bit obscure, but read the documentation with the mouse first.
-Feels very comfortable in your hand with the grooves. Soft touch
Cons: - Not really a Con, but an achievement system for using the mouse?
- Can take getting used to depending on the DPI setting you were used to.
- Because of the texture of the mouse, discoloration or fading can occur (it has showed slightly on my mouse buttons already). Make sure to keep it clean.
Other Thoughts: Is a great mouse. Takes a bit of getting used to as I came from a Razer Deathadder (which only supports 3500 dpi). Color is great and you can customize your light as well.
Make sure you pay around with the sensitivity settings and DPI otherwise you might have a hard time controlling your mouse.
