Pros: intuitive, easy to use web admin interface. hardware is easy to setup. feature rich and excellent performance. Can easily do wire-speed saturated transfers to this device if you wish:need.
Other Thoughts: Synology NAS gear is suitable for use in business environments, and has a price point that is far better value than many 'enterprise' products.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: This is a classic iSCSI target device; the controller is one that is used by a number of different vendors & re-badged. It is reliable, easy to configure via the web management interface, works well, and is 'solid as a tank'. This model lacks 'advanced' features (port trunking for better throughput; snapshots at the controller level) but really for this price point, you shouldn't be expecting such things. The unit just purchased was configured with 2tb hitachi sata drives and in raid6 this gives a nice reliable chunk of iSCSI storage for a very reasonable price.
Cons: When delivered, a power cable inside the chassis had been dislodged, rendering 3 drive trays non-powered. This was easily fixed by popping the lid on the unit and re-plugging the cable. A minor annoyance. Since this issue is resolved, no other issues are observed.
Other Thoughts: If you need good basic iSCSI target functionality which is very solid, this unit is certainly worth considering. I believe it would work fine with virtualization platforms (VMWare, Xenserver, ProxmoxVE, etc) just fine but clearly your throughput will be limited to single-gig-ether trunk capacity.READ FULL REVIEW
