Most Favorable Review

Quality as expected

AMD Phenom II X4 925 - Phenom II X4 Deneb Quad-Core 2.8 GHz Socket AM3 95W Processor - HDX925WFGIBOX
AMD Phenom II X4 925 - Phenom II X4 Deneb Quad-Core 2.8 GHz Socket AM3 95W Processor - HDX925WFGIBOX

Pros: Relatively cheap quadcore that gives great performance in everyday apps and games. 95W cpu means it runs relatively cool and does not require as much from a motherboard.

Cons: It isn't the fastest thing on the planet, but you shouldn't expect it to be. Not really a con, if you do your research.

Overall Review: It does exactly as i expected it to. Runs cool, easy overclock (3.5ghz, stock volts), and fast in games new and old. As I said before, it may not be the fastest thing around, but price/performance makes it an incredible buy. I've used both AMD and intel chips over the last years (just switched from a core2quad) and I couldn't be happier. Newegg shipped fast and the price was right, as always. Plan on building a similar rig with the x3 for an office machine.

Decent cooler

COOLER MASTER RR-NCW-L4E1-GP Copper (Skived fin) Fan & Heatsinks
COOLER MASTER RR-NCW-L4E1-GP Copper (Skived fin) Fan & Heatsinks

Pros: Secure mounting mechanism, compact size works well with nearby components.

Cons: On a 650i motherboard, this cooler only kept chipset a little colder than stock. Fan doesnt move much air. See other thoughts.

Overall Review: Included fan is insufficient for my needs. got a 40mm > 60mm fan adapter, which works well. Now the heatsink keeps chipset nice and cool. Fan is not as annoying as i thought it would be, and the blue LED isnt cornea burning like some leds. The mounting mechanism is a bit odd at first, but its grown on me.

As advertised, Good speed and capacity

G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-1866C10D-16GAB
G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-1866C10D-16GAB

Pros: Two 8GB sticks at 1866. Priced competitively. Standard size heatspreaders, so there should be no clearance issues with large CPU heatsinks.

Cons: First few OS suspend commands took a while to resume; after that, no issues whatsoever.

Overall Review: I have been buying GSkill for years now, and will continue to do so. Good ram at a good price. Customer service is prompt and informative. There are rarely any shiny extras, but that isn't a priority for me.

Simple and effective

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100354OC-2L
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100354OC-2L

Pros: Overall a solid card. Runs relatively cool. Good price. Should fit in any standard size case. Physically smaller than the 5850 it replaced.

Cons: The cooler supplied feels a little cheap, but it is a budget card. No adapters in the box, would have been nice. One crossfire bridge, but then again if you want more than two cards you probably aren't using 78xxs. So far the board has not responded well to overclocking, but I'll reserve judgement on that for later. Seems like some of the power circuitry is bunched together. Message me for pics.

Overall Review: Not much in the box, but as a cheap Sapphire branded card that is expected. No -eggs for that, though. I can't comment on stock temps because I've got mine under water. The day or so I had it with the stock cooler I had no problems with noise. Only 4 screws hold the cooler on- I was expecting more, but it fits the standard ATI (non79xx) mounting. Mine came with Eplida memory, in case you care.

Solid Board

BIOSTAR TZ68K+ LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
BIOSTAR TZ68K+ LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Plenty of connectivity, good price, All the important overclocking options and more. Easy to use BIOS. No noticeable hardware conflicts like some boards (ie. ram against video card) Sound is good.

Cons: The biggest one i've seen (and probably the first you will notice) Is that the board is between mAtx and regular ATX. I have about an 3/4inch of overhang past my rightmost matx standoff. It makes for a slightly more delicate install. This is really the only reason for the 4 eggs instead of 5. I've used this board both with stock cooling and with water, and in all other ways the board performs well.

Overall Review: No IDE connector. Not a con for me, but it is worth noting. The voltage reporting from the board is a little inconsistent- 3 different software programs report 3 different values. I'd love a solid hardware vcore measure point. If anyone at Biostar is watching, send me an email.

Solid so far.

Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold - 1200W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Gold Certification and Semi-Modular Cables
Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold - 1200W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Gold Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Pros: 98 amps on the single 12v is a good deal. Blew up my last oc-*name censored* 700 watt wit mid grade component and a water kit. so far, This PSU has delivered all I needed. Overkill? probably. but the one thing you cannot skimp on is your power supply, and this fits my bill.

Cons: Freakin heavy. but that's a good thing. This is a modular PSU, so i expected less cables, but there are two main 2x6pin cables off the main strand. great if you have 2 vidcards, more cables to hide if you don't. if you --need-- 1200w this is probably a non issue. for me it was. The SATA cables are a bit short if you want to put your dvd drive and HDs apart- and a bit long between connectors if you have HDs right next to each other.

Overall Review: Overall, it did what i wanted. replacing my blown-up 700w. Running overclocked and watercooled with no issues. Did I need 1200w? no. does it feel good to know i have a safety zone? Yes.
