Great Product

WACOM Intuos5 Touch PTH850 Large Pen Tablet
WACOM Intuos5 Touch PTH850 Large Pen Tablet

Pros: Anyone reading this probably already knows that wacom products are great. The 'large' provides plenty of surface area and the 2048 levels of sensitivity is very noticeable upgrade compared to previous versions. I am very pleasantly surprised with the touch input! There are a ton of intuitive gestures and it is pretty awesome using your finger instead of a mouse. One nice touch is that even if the pen is in "pen mode", touch input is defaulted in "mouse mode", which I prefer for desktop interaction as opposed to painting. It makes bouncing back and forth very easy and intuitive.

Cons: The only reason this doesn't get 5 eggs is... The packaging! I was shocked to see that this was shipped in only its branded packaging. For almost a $500 tool, I expected it to be in a proper shipping box with some bubble wrap. The box arrived all beat up, torn, taped... I was worried, but everything inside was in perfect condition. But now my box is all ratty looking. Oh well. Other than that, no cons!

Overall Review: A few years ago I purchased a cintiq 12 UX, and while it is a great product, I found it was just too small, especially because it takes up a monitor port. I decided to get this instead of the larger cintiq because of the price and portability, as well as being able to use my regular monitors. Switching from the tablet display to just the tablet has taken a little getting used to but I couldn't be happier with he decision. Be aware that the 'large' is really... large. I love the active area and coming from a cintiq, this is exactly what I wanted, but you may want to pull out your tape measure before clicking the button.
