This review is from: Edimax EW-7822UAC Wireless AC1200 Dual-band USB 3.0 Adapter, Complies to Draft 802.11ac Standard, Delivers More Than Two Times Faster Wi-Fi Speed Than 802.11n, With Adjustable Foldaway Antenna for Optimum High Performance
Pros: None really
Cons: The antenna is flimsy, and only swivels on a single axis. I have a Cisco 802.11AC router that is about 20' away from the adapter, and the adapter, even though it was showing 5 bars would only connect at 86Mbps on the 5 GHZ band, and 150Mbps on the 2.4 GHZ band. And can only maintain about 8-10 Mbps throughput.
A similar 802.11N adapter connects at 270 or 300 Mbps consistently.
This review is from: VANTEC CB-ISA200-U3 IDE/SATAIII to USB 3.0 Adapter
Pros: The USB 3 throughput was very fast
Cons: The power supply is very cheap. It stopped working after a couple weeks. I popped it apart, and found the 3 prong connector is poorly soldered to the board, and poorly attached to the case. The solder pads had broken off, and the connection was not being made. I manually re-soldered it, and repaired the board, which got me through a drive clone, but I am going to throw this away. Not worth the money in the end.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Tons of features, easy setup, intuitive UI, Fast, robust logs show you what is happening on your network!
Other Thoughts: Wow! This is a Fantastic Router/ Firewall/ UTM! I had a pretty complex small network with 3 routers, a DMZ, and a lot of routing, and NAT Rules. I consolidated it all onto this guy in about 1 hour after opening the box! I have not played with the Bandwidth Management yet, but that looks very cool too! Great Job ZyXel!READ FULL REVIEW
