Most Favorable Review
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: No problems so far. Northbridge runs just fine at 45* degrees or so have not seen it above 50*. Southbridge is upper 30s and motherboard sits at 29*-33*. The 890FX chipset will hopefully keep me future proof for a while.

Cons: Figuring out manual fan control is not as easy as I would like it to be but there are a ton of options on setting things. BIOS has some weird descriptions but thats what happens when it gets translated from a different language I suppose. With my bottom mounted power supply the front panel connector cables are kind of in the way of the OC and Core Unlocker buttons.

NETGEAR WPN824N-100NAR RangeMax N150 Wireless-N Router IEEE 802.11b/g/n Manufacturer Recertified

Pros: price and so far it is reliable.

Cons: range is not as good as my old WRT54G. the lights on it are really bright and somewhat annoying since I sleep in the same room as the wifi router as its also hooked up to my desktop.

Overall Review: upgraded from a WRT54G that I had flashed with DD-WRT firmware. Wanted an N router for more speed and my wrt was flaking out on me. can copy files between my desktop and laptop over the wireless a little faster now.

Canon 2514A002 SLR Lenses EF 50mm f/1.8 II Standard & Medium Telephoto Lens Black

Pros: Fast lens, very clear, love the background blur (bokeh), great portrait lens. For the price the images this lens produces can not be beat.

Cons: It does feel cheap and breakable but its a $100 lens what can you expect? Not sure about you but I don't throw my DSLR around hard enough to break anything anyway.

Overall Review: I bought this lens mainly as a portrait lens and because everyone needs a "fast fifty". I am a telephoto guy but this ends up being a little too zoomed on my APS-C sensor to get good pics of my 1 year old indoors. He just moves too fast! I love this lens for what it is though. Great for portraits and low light. I will probably be buying a 28mm to go along with it maybe even something wider than that. Remember on a crop sensor this is the equivalent of around 80mm

works as it shoul

Rosewill RCR-IC002 - 74-in-1 Internal Card Reader with USB 2.0 Ports & Extra Silver Face Plate - Fits 3.5" Drive Bay

Pros: Simple to install. No compatibility works perfectly. Saves me the hassle of plugging up my SLR after shooting some pics. Just pop in my SD card.

Cons: I had to unplug one of my current front USB ports to plug up the connector for the card reader on the motherboard. I also don't like that you put the SD card in upside down but its not really that big of a deal. The blue LED is also annoying for me as its on all the time.

Overall Review: I bought it on sale so it was very cheap. Works great though. No problems and as always super fast shipping from NewEgg.

pretty good

Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens
Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens

Pros: Great zoom range, multi purpose lens. will do most anything a beginner photographer would want to do.

Cons: zoom creeps really really bad I have to keep my hand on the zoom ring to stop it from moving while shooting. May be my lens though as it has got a lot looser since I first started using it. If I point it at the ground it falls down to about 170mm. quite soft, can be slow to focus in lower light.

Overall Review: This was the kit lens I got with my 60D. I loved it at first but after a few months started to be unimpressed with its sharpness. It is not a bad lens just not great. I would have been disappointed if I paid retail price for it. The IS is very nice, I can shoot hand held down to around 1/5 at 18-24mm and 1/15 at 200mm with very little blur even in low light. I am not sure the sweet spot in the focal range but it is really soft at 200mm. I would give it 3.5 but thats not an option so I gave it 4.

Great Camera

Canon EOS 60D 18MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens
Canon EOS 60D 18MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens

Pros: Good value, great zoom range, huge upgrade from my old point and shoot. I have taken shots up to ISO 6400 that I can get to look pretty good shooting in RAW and editing in Lightroom.

Cons: Only thing I don't like is the mode dial button. That push lock button thing is just not necessary. The lens does zoom creep quite a bit but when I am walking around I just zoom out and switch on the zoom lock.

Overall Review: This is my first DSLR so I am quite impressed. Some people don't like the multi direction pad but I find it to work just fine. The lens doesn't seem to zoom much past 170mm but I have read it has to do with your focus settings. I don't yet have the knowledge to understand exactly.
