Pros: Some nice features for HTPC.
Cons: Motherboard was DOA and would not power on.
1. For this ASRock model motherboard, Poor warranty and customer support.
2. ASRock RMA procedures for defective items requires you to return the item to an authorized retailer. This gives you a high probability of getting retailer recycled junk motherboards and other ASRock products.
3. Open box or refurbished products are not covered by manufacturer warranty. I am sure this explains the reason there are so many open box and refurbished ASRock motherboards of this model for sale on Newegg. You do not want to try and save a few dollars to find out that the motherboard has no warranty. Repairing this motherboard will cost you $50 plus your cost to ship the motherboard back to ASRock.
Other Thoughts: Just a few items that I have learned as a follow up to my previous review.
Read the fine print about defective item replacement and watch warranties. Depending on the model of motherboard, other manufactures offer longer warranties for their products.
From ASRock's own RMA form:
6. Out of warranty, open box or refurbished products are not covered by manufacturer warranty. If you still prefer to RMA out of warranty, open box or refurbished product, ASRock will charge $50 Labor & Service fee and provide three months warranty for the replacement.
The motherboard that I purchased was in the original serial number matching box and all accessories were sealed in their origInal packages. I returned the defective motherboard to the retailer and will be buying a MSI or ASUS motherboard to replace this one. This was my first and last ASRock product.
Cons: DOA junk!!
Other Thoughts: Board was DOA. ASRock wants you to send the board back to the seller for refund instead of being able to send the defective board directly to ASRock for repair. Waste of money shipping around defective junk!!!! My first and last ASRock board.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Crucial M4 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT064M4SSD2
Pros: None at all.
Cons: Not very fast, not very reliable. Crucial's power reset procedure does not last very long.
Other Thoughts: The first drive was replaced after repeatedly failing in the S3 sleep mode. I received a refurbished replacement drive. This drive also started to fail to be recognized after recovery from the S3 sleep mode. After changing an antivirus setting it was stable for a few months. Again it has failed. After again performing the power recovery procedure on the drive, I installed the latest firmware that is supposed to prevent the "hang condition would typically occur during power-up or resume from Sleep or Hibernate". I can assure you that this condition is not been "contained to the factory". I have noticed that once this condition happens that some data on the the drive appears to be corrupt. It is best to install a windows backup after this condition happens. Of course it happened just as the new fall TV shows have started. I have ordered a different brand drive that I use in my other HTPC that has not displayed this problem.READ FULL REVIEW
