Pros: Good value, no installation problems, good performance
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: I use this rack on average once per week in order to run backups on a hard drive that my company stores in a fire safe for the rest of the time. So far this setup has worked well.READ FULL REVIEW
Cons: does not read most of my DVD's
Other Thoughts: I bought this unit because many others were happy with it. Unfortunately I cannot share their enthusiasm. The unit gets 2 eggs because it was not DOA. However, it does not even read most of my DVD's. An utter disappointment.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Good byte-per-buck ratio. When working, performance is OK.
Cons: Questionable reliability. With only two hard drive manufacturers left it appears that quality no longer has to matter. My goal was to obtain large get-it-and-forget-it storage. That's why I used of 2 of this drives in a RAID-1 setting. The mirrored RAID turned out to be a smart decision because I did not lose any data. About six weeks after installing these hard drives the performance of my computer became noticeably sluggish. At the same time I also noticed a sound that I was familiar with from past experience, namely the gasp of a failing hard drive. Sure enough, checking the event log confirmed my hunch. Now I will have to go through the trouble of filing a warranty claim and then re-building my RAID. Given the fact the competition's products also appear to have their problems, trouble-free storage may be in illusory goal nowadays. My advice: Assume that these drives can fail anytime and have a backup structure in place that will minimize the data loss when it happens.READ FULL REVIEW
