CORSAIR Hydro Series H60 (CW-9060007-WW) High Performance Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: -idle temps dropped from 30c-35c to 20-25c (intel i5 3570k oc'd to 4.2)
-load temps (with intel burn test) went from 85c to 74c max
-very quiet even under full load
-fits nicely into case and install was fairly straightforward
-looks really nice in my rosewill blackhawk case

Cons: the mounting bracket that fits to the back of the mobo was a little finicky to get on an 1155 board. had to slide parts of the bracket to make it fit. not a big deal really.

Other Thoughts: definitely a great little cooler. this is my first liquid cooler and im really liking it.

HyperX 3K 2.5

  • neweggOwned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: this thing is fast. upgraded from a 7200 rpm seagate momentus xt that was considered a "hybrid drive" with a small amount of flash memory to make it faster. this thing blows it out of the water. I get sequential read/writes of 495/252 on SataIII. It can hold windows 7 and a few games perfectly fine.

Cons: the shiny blue hdd caddy wouldn't fit in on my hdd sled. not worth docking an egg though

Other Thoughts: for some reason windows experience index wont run on the drive. no big deal but it just wont finish.

BUFFALO LinkStation Live 3 TB Network Attached Storage (NAS) - LS-X3.0TL
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: works good over the network but I would suggest either 1000mbps ethernet or 300mbps wireless n to transfer files to/from the drive. at 54mbps wireless g it is cripplingly slowwww.

works well as a media server using skifta on my desktop and android phone.

the bittorrent client it comes with is pretty handy and works well.

Cons: the settings manager in the browser is horrible. its slow to load and buggy as all heck to get things like web access enabled and stable.

Other Thoughts: i don't schedule backups to this drive so can't comment on how that works.

If you can get past the horrible settings process it turns out to be a decent drive especially for the price per size and features.

i have also used a seagate version of a nas and its interface is much nicer and easier to operate but also a bit more expensive for the size.
