This review is from: Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit
Pros: Very easy install. This was probably the easiest install of a windows operating system I've ever done.
After giving it a couple weeks, I'm warming up to Windows 8.1, though initially I was very put off upgrading from Windows 7.
Cons: Windows experience index needs to be run from command line. You used to be able to click a link in the properties page of "my computer" for this.
They could have done a better job with non tablet/touchscreen menu support. Navigating still feels a little clunky.
Other Thoughts: The more I'm using it, the more I'm liking it. It really is very different from previous versions of windows.
The differences are quite drastic, and I recommend giving it some time, and a bit of trial and error.
For me, I think it is a more intuitive operating system than I initially expected.
This review is from: Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound AS5-3.5G
Pros: Combined with my Corsair H60 Water Cooler this keeps my I5 4670k running at 28*c.
The initial cpu temps were 31*c-32*c, after a shorter than advertised break-in period (125+Hours), that dropped a few degrees.
Cons: Can be a little messy.
Requires proper application technique.
Requires break-in period for compound to set up.
Other Thoughts: The key to getting this product to work correctly is proper application technique.
It is a little messy, and can be finicky, though if applied properly after its initial break in period when the paste sets up you should notice cooler temperatures.
I have used Arctic Silver 5 on all my builds/rebuilds in recent years, it has always performed great.
I've seen temp ranges drop from 1-5 degrees at idle and 1-16 degrees under load for cpus when applied as a replacement compound for pc's friends have brought to me to fix up.
I've also had good results using it on gpu heatsinks.
Pros: - Keeps my I5 4670k (Not OC'd) running at 28*C at idle, highest temp under heavy load so far was 57*C... Very happy with that. Using arctic silver 5 thermal paste.
- Fan it ships with is very quiet.
Cons: - None so far as I can tell.
Other Thoughts: - Hoses seem a little long for an all-in-one, even in a full tower case.READ FULL REVIEW
