Canon PIXMA MG8120 4504B002 ESAT Approx. 12.5 ipm Black Print Speed 9600 x 2400 dpi Color Print Quality Ethernet (RJ-45) / USB / Wi-Fi InkJet MFC / All-In-One Color Printer

Pros: Excellent multifunction printer. Impressed with printer features including the firmware capabilities to print. Screen is nice. Power saving feature. Integrated with network seamlessly. Printouts look good. Software and drivers are excellent so far.

Cons: While the software is excellent it still is bloated. Ink tanks are small - not looking forward to replacing those if this is used a lot.

WD Sharespace

WD WDA4NC40000N 4TB ShareSpace Network Storage
WD WDA4NC40000N 4TB ShareSpace Network Storage

Pros: Small device that fits easily on a desk or shelf. Gig-E interface. RAID 5 and claims of low power utilization. 2.6GB of usable space. After using the device for nearly 3 months - those are about the only positive things to say about it.

Cons: Just loud enough to be annoying if on your desk, The device is incredibly slow - Gig-E connection slower than a typical 100 Mbit connection. Web interface and the software is slow and clunky and is difficult to navigate. You CAN NOT stream files from this device - prepare for pauses on any media file every 30 seconds. File transfers were lucky to hit 70 Mbits/sec - on a Gig-E connection. I wish someone had told me this in the reviews before I bought it, so I'm sharing here. As an afterthought, WD clearly bolted on 2 software packages to "serve" media files. The iTunes server - works well enough for one instance of iTunes at a time but will completely absorb all of the WD Sharespace resources so that you can do nothing else with the Sharespace device. The other package is Twonky. No instructions and an interface that looks like it was scraped from a 1999 website. It "serves" media files by downloading them to your PC and then activating your player of choice. Some server.....

Overall Review: It's clear this device was rushed to market with a low capacity embedded Linux solution. It clearly wasn't performance tested or utilized in the field. If you need a file archiver for small <100MByte files, this device would work. Unfortunately, trying to use this pitiful device as a file server is an incredibly expensive and frustrating mistake. Prepare for only one stream active at any time, pathetic transfer speeds and literally DAYS to backup your files. The USB ports are a joke - they only read FAT32 and their transfer speeds are notoriously bad as well. My recommended solution - a router with a network USB port emulator (ex. D-LINK DIR-655), a 4 port USB hub, and 4 external 1TB hard drives. You'll save hundreds of dollars and have approximately 10 times the performance. Or build your own server with RAID. For me, this thing turned into a $700 waste for its primary purpose - playing media files on our home network.

Card died after 9 months- Gigabyte unable or unwilling to fix

GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD GeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card
GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD GeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card

Pros: Was a great card - while it worked. Not sure if the 3 year warranty is a Pro. See below.

Cons: A three year warranty is great. However a 6 to 8 week turnaround time borders on the unacceptable. Furthermore, Gigabyte technicians appear incapable of diagnosing or even repairing hardware problems. No one contacted me to ask for my troubleshooting information. Repairs were not identified by technicians. From my perspective it appears I spent $15 to ship a defective card on a road trip across the country.

Overall Review: Just in case someone from Gigabyte sees this post: My RMA# is: RMA# USA-1481465 Windows 7 disables card with the following "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". Even after it was "repaired" by Gigabyte "technicians". I sent the card in to Gigabyte to be repaired under the 3 year warranty. The RMA process was convoluted in places and took an extraordinarily long time - nearly 6 weeks. Before sending the card in for repair, I did extensive troubleshooting by placing the card in multiple Windows 7 machines to verify it was indeed defective. After many weeks of waiting for the card to be "repaired" and returned, I received the card with a "minor repair" completed per Gigabyte RMA site. There was no explanation of what the "repair" actually was. A visual inspection of the card prior to shipment and post receipt implies nothing was actually repaired. The "repaired" card was installed in a Windows 7 machine. Windows immediately reported the card as having an issue on boot up. I installed the nVidia drivers anyway, just in case. Windows refused to start the driver because the card reported an issue. I downloaded the Microsoft hardware resolution program. The program again identified the card as defective and tried to reinstall the card and drivers. Both failed, again. I'll be happy to share the Microsoft generated report and screenshtos of the card failing. The card is defective. I still have over 2 years on the warranty and no faith in Gigabyte being able to repair a clearly defective card. I use this card for simulations.

Horrible connectivity

Samsung HM1700 Black Bluetooth Headset
Samsung HM1700 Black Bluetooth Headset

Pros: Excellent sound and good controls

Cons: Won't stay connected. Will randomly disconnect in the middle of a conversation or while listening to music. Then it tries to reconnect while you're still in the conversation. Had to go back to the older Samsung bluetooth set that DOES NOT randomly disconnect.

Overall Review: Hopefully I have a bad headset and a replacement will work fine. I am using a Motorola Droid/Milestone. Google searches did not yield any known compatibility issues

No 16X/16X or SLI support

MSI 790XT-G45 AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard
MSI 790XT-G45 AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Good motherboard for the price. Will give you some flexibility for future growth but only if you want to use Crossfire.

Cons: I would give this a higher mark except for 2 reasons: First, no SLI support at all. Crossfire only. Second, a bit of false advertising with 8X/8X support only on the PCI-e slots. NO resolution to this on the forums and notice other purchasers of this board have the same complaint. No response from the manufacturer implies they are well aware of this limitation yet persist in claiming it is 16X/16X. Can we get a response from MSI?

Great cards

EVGA 512-P3-N987-TR GeForce 9800 GT HDMI 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Pros: Another great buy from EVGA! Got 2 of these with the $25 rebate.

Cons: None.

Ordered 2 items, only received 1

I ordered 2 items from this customer but only received 1. I received 2 baggies. One baggie had the USB 4.0 Bluetooth device with a driver CD. The other baggie contained only the driver CD. This item was only $3.24 apiece. It's not worth the hassle to get a replacement, especially considering it took almost 2 weeks to get here.
