This review is from: TP-LINK Archer C9 Wireless AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router
Pros: It has great range. I had a TP-LINK that died after two years. It was old and only Dual N so it was time for an upgrade. I decided to replace it with this. the router is in the basement. I never could get any signal in my upstairs bedroom with the old router. The new router has amazing range. I get full bars in that room now. Its been nice to have that boost. The setup was easy. I am using DSL for now. I set it up the modem as transparent bridge, setup the router for PPPoE and input my username and password and I'm running. Less than five minutes. I like the USB ports. I have an USB 3.0 hard drive attached. Its great for a little online network storage.
Cons: You can't wall mount it, least not easily, and not flush. The network ports are on the back in a way which would make it more difficult. It has be sat up on a desk or shelf for the most part. I also think the two usb ports should be placed together. I don't know why one is on the side and one is on the back. It makes it awkward for cable management.
Other Thoughts: I would buy it again. I'm happy with the range and the features. I would like to see a wall mount version of this with better port management and lay out. All in all though, I'm satisfied with it.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Bought it in a combo with a MSI Z97 PC Mate. It was a bargain.
Cons: Disappointed since I can't get it to overclock. It seems to only want to work in stock. I've done tons of research. I was running i3 540 decided I want to move myself into a position to buy a more expensive i3/i5/i7 later. Somewhat regretting it now. Some games just stutter and don't run quite as well. I did a clean install of my OS afterwards. Tried updating my Bios to latest.
Other Thoughts: Hoping I can get this thing to overclock soon.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: MSI Z97 PC Mate LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: It was a great deal. Bought this combo with a G3258 processor. Performance is pretty good. The motherboard has great options on it. I really liked the extra SATA ports, the USB 3.0. I run an SSD and my WEI score jumped off the charts in comparison to my old board.
Cons: So far I'm not able to overclock my G3258. I don't know if this a problem with the board, the processor or both. I've researched the overclocking of this chip and the information is there but not helpful. The MSI website even implies there is a special overclocking bios? So is the bios different from the bios on the Motherboard home page? The information just seems messy to me. I haven't tried the overclocking BIOS that I found on the Overclocking web page. I'm kind of nervous about loading it. I tried using the overclock button and manually in the bios. Just gives me a failure and reverts me back. Even increasing the multiplier by 1x fails.
Other Thoughts: I'm happy with the board but I'm pretty sure I'm going to probably part ways with the CPU in favor of an i3 or i5 before year end.READ FULL REVIEW
