Pros: OK, so I am not poor--I dropped a little over 1G for two of these bad girls to operate in SLI. BUT, I saved close to 1G by buying the next best thing. According to my benchmarks and experience, I am getting about 10-15% less performance compared to the original Titan. HOWEVER, I still have 6GB of VRAM which is nice for surround or high resolution gaming. For this kind of savings and still get close to the same performance, it is definitely worth it. I was waiting for something like this with the GK110 GPU and 6GB of VRAM, and this is it. From what I have read, it retains the reference design. I hope so, because I just ordered water blocks.
Cons: It is a beautiful piece of hardware, but it runs HOT! The ACX cooler is effective if you have good air flow and are running just one card. If you have two in SLI, then forget about it--you will probably need to consider water cooling options. I am currently using the Bitfenix Shinobi XL with ten fans and I still have to game with the side panel removed. The ACX cooler is good but remember that it is blowing all that hot air into the inside of your case.
Other Thoughts: In the latest games like Watch_Dogs, I am getting about 40-50 fps at 2560 x 1440 with all settings maxed. Remember that more and more games are using more VRAM, so this graphics card with 6GB of VRAM is a great option.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE1T0BW 2.5" 1TB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Pros: I upgraded to this SSD because I grew tired of swapping out 5.25 inch floppy diskettes. Even though they were double sided, double density, 360 KB just doesn't cut it any more based on the storage requirements of some operating systems and programs these days. I thought about upgrading to a 3.5 inch floppy drive, but I believe that this is the better, more cost-effective option. The TLC NAND flash memory is definitely faster and more efficient than the magnetic medium that I am used to. My computer went from 125 kbit/s to 540 MB/s seq reads in one computer upgrade. And this SSD is so much quieter, no more noise during disk read and write operations. What a difference!
Cons: No accessories like mounting hardware
Other Thoughts: There is technology that has been introduced in the past that makes me stop and say, "Woooaahh" and this is one of them. Like when graphics cards replaced software to produce 3D images at acceptable frame rates. Or when everyone went from dial-up internet to super-fast cable connections. You know what I mean. Well this is an upgrade that you cannot pass up. It is so fast and efficient that motherboard manufacturers are now incorporating this technology directly onto the PCB.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: BitFenix Shinobi XL Window Black Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case
Pros: Somehow all the other reviews on this item are suddenly gone (there were many pages of reviews). WHATEVER. I was researching this and the NZXT Switch 810 for water cooling purposes. While I do like the design and I was able to get TWO 360 rads in this, it definitely is not enough based on my current hardware installed.
Cons: Received this item with a broken side panel, the window was cracked and broken in multiple places. And the panel did not fit well on the side, the screw holes did not line up. I contacted BifFenix about a replacement side panel and their response was, "Contact the manufacturer to begin the RMA process." Umm, isn't that what I am doing now? Anyway, it wasn't worth it to ship this item back to Newegg.
Other Thoughts: I will probably NOT purchase another BitFenix product again in the future.READ FULL REVIEW
