Pros: Even faster DVD-R writing than my Pioneer DVD burner at same speed settings, Low noise, Solid construction. Works great with RiDATA 6x BD-R inkjet printable . No coasters yet! Haven't been able to create a bad burn... Love this burner, and my Pioneer DVR-218L DVD burner. No un-needed features like quad layer burning.
Cons: Would it kill them to toss in a basic NERO or something?
Costs a bit more than some other brands.
Other Thoughts: I hope Pioneer keeps making quality products like this! It's well worth the few extra dollars. From my experience with other brands like Asus, lite-on... they're a bit cheaper but the Lite on quit ejecting propperly after a while, and the Asus DVD burner was extremely slow to burn a DVD... I got what I paid for in both cases... I'm fine with the idea that this drive could eventually be sub-par. I do not expect to burn any bd-xl or other expensive/ not yet existant media any time soon.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Reliable reputation, Newegg price is great. Not much louder than an older 1TB WD black. WD RMA sounds like it would actually work if I ever needed to use it. [Haven't had a problem with any WD black drives, except one that was DOA. Even all my old WD blue drives are still running.] It's a super fast drive.. I guess my internet connection couldn't max it out, but I did get higher than expected transfer rates from my usb3.0 and my old EIDE drive. Happy with it so far, and expecting a 3TB version shortly.
Cons: Costs a bit more than most. Is louder than my older style 1TB Black.
Other Thoughts: How much of the price is for advertising? Is WD going to improve the overall quality of their products? I've been a fan of WD for over 10 years. I've seen the quality level of some products is hit or miss.... I hope to one day be trusting enough to buy a WD green hard drive or some blue ones once again.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Burns CD's amazingly fast
great for basic users
Cons: Slow DVD burning speed! I think I could burn and even verify a dvd in my other burner running at 8x speed faster than this burner can even finish a dvd at 12x speed. No DAO mode supported for dvd? Somewhat loud.
I'm thinking that this drive wouldn't be the best choice for someone who needs to do advanced types of burning... at least for DVD anyway. I haven't tried anything special for cd's yet. I suspect that the CD burning method of DAO is not available on this burner, but I could be wrong.
Other Thoughts: The light on the front blinks when it's writing. My pioneer burner is much faster for dvd's and less noisy.READ FULL REVIEW
