This review is from: QNAP TS-231 2-Bay Personal Cloud NAS Diskless System with DLNA, PLEX Support
Pros: -Works across all platforms, I have linux, mac and windows and no issues yet.
-Ability to setup users (wife has ichy delete finger) I set her to read only
-Remote viewing and management
-GUI interface is awesome. I can even make changes from Ipad or android phone.
-Apps from QNAP are great for android, I didn't have a need to use them and then I started. They have a photo and file app. Also a management console.
-Centralized data store with less power consumption and duplicated, take my money!
-Ability to run a web server and VM images is awesome (haven't tested yet)
Cons: -Says Plex support (I did my research before hand in purchasing this QNAP) The support and functionality issues do exist
If you plan on keeping a USB hard drive plugged in 24/7 and using Plex, don't plan on it.
Plex does require restarting time to time if running naively. Both Plex and QNAP can't speak to it on support enough for me to say its really supported as stated. It works but with special treatment.
- A single app for music, video and photos like Plex would be nice
Other Thoughts: Other then the management app I would like to see all the mobile apps combined into one. Jumping from one to another can be time consuming at times. I like that the management app is separate as I wouldn't want the wife restarting or removing something accidentally.
If your not good at figuring this out that is ok, QNAP is really not that bad to setup. The higher level things can be tricky but google is your friend.
All the additional software and ability to use 3rd party apps really is a great function here.
Pros: Does everything that I wanted. Hands free music and phone features with simple setup. I have snow tires and in the rain always had issues with my phone calls. Now the wife and my father who is hard of hearing can hear me just fine. Worth the investment. Also much safer then trying to fish out the phone from your bag or pocket.
Cons: Nothing at this time. Been two months and working great.
Other Thoughts: I would get another but my wife's car comes with bluetooth already. Thinking about maybe one for the house stereo though.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Got this for the name and speed for my DLSR camera. Been working great so far. I can shoot 6 fps and have one card back up to the other. The two I purchased are working in the same unit. One is my main card and the other is a secondary if the first fails. Keeping up with the buffer of the camera which is what matters the most.
Cons: 28GB vs 32GB as labeled. Not sure if Gray market or not. Seem like legit SanDisk packaging.
Other Thoughts: Dropped the rating for the size on disk space. I have other Gskill and PNY cards that the storage is what is advertised. The cost made up for the difference but still would appreciate true info. I would get more just wanted to share the size discrepancy.READ FULL REVIEW
