Cons: This is a lemon. The case is plastic and flimsy. The ON button appears as if it is half-broken. The USB ports and other ports appear poorly constructed and barely fit any plug-ins.
After the initial boot, it had problem with installing Windows and the Service Pack. When I tried to go through the paper work, there was no product manual or a contact number to call for service. I finally found a phone number on the internet and call them. The manufacturer customer service was prompt and spoke fluent English. After several attempts at booting, he advised me to perform a complete system recovery. After several hours of reformatting the drive, the computer was still unable to boot. I am not sure if this model is a batch of lemons but there are a lot of similar complaints about booting.
Other Thoughts: The computer has a feel of a build-it-yourself minimalistic approach to user interface. This means no bloatware but appears very rudimentary.
The specs of the computer look great and the price is extremely competitive so one would expect that this computer would be an extremely good value. You just have to pray that you don't pick the same lemon I did.
This review is from: Avatar (2-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo/WS 1.78:1/ENG/FREN/SPAN) Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation); Sigourney Weaver (Aliens); Zoe Saldana (Star Trek); Michelle Rodriguez (Fast & Furious)
Pros: The blu-ray experience was excellent while it lasted.
Cons: I bought this avatar blu-ray dics as well and a plextor external blu-ray player (comes with power dvd 8 software player). The system worked great during the first month (may 2010). However, now the disc does not work anymore. I only played the disc several times, and its condition is still pristine. Every other blu-ray discs I have still work with plextor and cyberlink power dvd. I have updated my firmware with plextor, uninstall and reinstall power dvd several times but that does not help. I think there is something wrong the the avatar drm that is causing so much grief among average law abiding casual users.
I don't even know whether to buy new blu-ray discs, or upgrade new software, because I am not sure if this problem won't recur. At least now I know where not to spend my hard-earned cash.
