NZXT Phantom PHAN-001BK Black Steel / Plastic Enthusiast ATX Full Tower Computer Case
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

4 out of 5 eggs very decent case with some minor issues 02/07/2015

This review is from: NZXT Phantom PHAN-001BK Black Steel / Plastic Enthusiast ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is a huge case that is at a decent price and holds many components. It can hold a crazy amount of hard drives, the airflow is amazing, it has room for a ton of fans, it can hold many dvd drives, it has many expansion card slots. Wire management is very nice with this case and it has many holes to support whatever type of liquid cooling you want to do.

Cons: Since this is a Extended ATX case it would be nice for them to include more slots for expansion cards in the back. Many of us who get this have extended atx gaming rigs and want to even do QUAD sli/crossfire and there simply aren't enough slots in the back depending on the configuration. Also the NZXT fans are VERY cheap. I would highly recommend replacing them since most of them will die a few months after getting them. Personally I got an extra large top case fan so both fan slots were used and both of the large top case fans either started making noises after a few months or they just stopped working. Moreover the fan controler on the top of the system is not amazing quality it looks cool but its prone to breaking. IDK if it was just a issue with my case but the front audio ports were garbage. You can hear the interference in the cheap front audio cables and the front usb headers are also cheap but hey at least they work. I resolved this problem by completely not using front panel anything but USB on this case. Also the 2 120mm fans on the door of the case are a pain in the buttocks. Every time you go to open the case there is no room to get the door off since the fans are attached and when you go to put the case back on its a pain to connect the fans while attaching the door on a angle since they didn't include enough cable with their fans. Furthermore if you use a large cpu cooler or liquid cooling block there is no room for the giant side fan and this was a problem I ran into. uhmmm also the screws they use for the side panels (both side panels come off) are very cheap and strip easy. With under 100 times of taking the side door off they are likely to not work as well anymore and even when hand tightening they are kind of loose and won't fully tighten. Also the tool less drive bays don't work very well and don't secure the drives very well. The drives have a very hard time fitting the in adapter bracket and its easy to completely break the adapters by just putting moderate force on them. Furthermore since the case is so big many wires are not long enough to reach either from the mobo to hdds or from psu to drive bays or what not and this is a constant concern when adding components especially if you want to keep the wires hidden. Personally I think many of these issues are minor and easy to fix. If they put a few more dollars into making this they could use higher quality screws, higher quality audio cable, higher quality fan controler with better molex attachments that don't bend and as long as when you add fans you stay clear of NZXT branded ones you should be fine and it would even be cheaper for them to use a tool design for the hard drives. (really if you're making a computer why wouldn't you at least have a basic philips screwdriver?)

Other Thoughts: There are several older versions that came with only usb 2.0 like I have and a newer version with mostly only front panel usb 3.0. It would be nice if the case came with a internal header adapter for people that don't have USB 3.0 since many people still do not and its very unprofessional to just have 2+ non working usb ports on the front of a custom built computer. Overall despite the flaws this case has it is very nice and much higher quality than a lot of other cases on here. I have had this case for almost 5 years now so I think I should know all the issues with it... This seriously may be one of the best cases ever for this price point but I would consider Lian-li if you have the money to spend.

Corsair Gaming K95 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - White LED - Cherry MX Red Switches
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Its a nice gaming keyboard.

Cons: As everyone else stated all the LEDs begin to burn out. This happened to me in less then 2 months from when I got the item. Now I've been waiting a month to get a replacement and it is on back order for another month. My neighbor who also has a k95 also had to get a replacment for burnt LEDs. I've never had this much issue with corsair before and usualy they have a solid product. They should really fix their mistake before people decided not to buy their stuff anymore especially when I originally paid quite a bit for this (more then current price),

5 out of 5 eggs Great shirt! 10/02/2014

This review is from: crucial Gift - Ballistix Grey Shirt

Pros: I got this as a free promo and didn't expect too much. But hell for a free shirt it has very good quality and is rather stylish. I have had this shirt for a while and it has been staying in good condition.

Cons: None? It was even free!
