This review is from: Intel X25-M 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDSA2MH080G1
Pros: In November of 2008 I purchased two of these SSD drives from Newegg for $621 each, cheap at the time. For those of you who are wondering if the drives really outperform standard hard drives you will be interested to know that YES, indeed they are!
My 2.4GHz Core2 Quad with 4GB Ram, Gforce 8800 GTS w/640Mb Ram, Windows XP SP3 system is setup with one SSD as the OS and Programs drive C and the other is my Data drive D. Photoshop CS3 opens in about 3 seconds, Illustrator, In Design & Flash CS3, open in about 10 seconds. All other apps like Office programs open in less than 1 second. XP boot up time to the desktop is about 10 sec. and about 30 sec. ready to work.
Opening and saving large Photoshop, AutoCAD, Visio and other files is blazing fast.
Well worth the investment for any Power User! I tested out making OS tweaks recommended by some other SSD users but in the end I found that making no changes to the OS was necessary. Standard settings are the fastest.
Other Thoughts: I wanted to wait for a while to write this review to make sure that I had ample time to do a real world test. So it’s been almost 6 months and I feel it’s time to post my findings. The price has dropped almost $200 between November 2008 and April of 2009, this is great. If you are a power user like me, I can tell you that when I spent $1,300 almost 6 months ago on two of theses drives IT WAS WORTH IT! Now I have to see how long they last, but I may never find out since Intel has just released the next generation of these drives and they have double the write speed :-)READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: LIAN LI PC-A05B Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Pros: Great small case, still large enough to work inside.
Cons: I would rather have the usb on the front of the case and not on the top.
Other Thoughts: I have built 4 systems using this case and was extremely pleased with the case. It takes a little getting used to mounting the powersupply in the front, but overall I like it.READ FULL REVIEW
