This review is from: Rosewill RC-229U4 - PCI-Express 2.0 x1 Controller Card with Four USB 3.0 Ports
Pros: Worked great while it worked.
Cons: Like J.S., the unit caught fire yesterday at the 15-pin SATA connector. It melted the video card adjacent to it, and scorched the MB. I have not yet determined if either of the PCI-e slots are still functional. The unit was 2 months out-of-warranty.
Other Thoughts: Also like J.S., I can live with an item that simply fails to function after the warranty expires. I cannot live with an item that fails in a fashion that threatens the safety of myself and my family. Fortunately I was home at the time, otherwise this could have been catastrophic. I expect Rosewill to do the right thing here, warranty or not.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Small & fast. Comes with Win7 Pro (NOT Win8.1). Good upgrade potential. Got it within a week of ordering. Bought it on sale, so saved some $$$.
Cons: I have to agree with Doug, it would have been nice to know exactly what came with the machine. I expected the box only, but that turned out not to be the case. Which was a nice surprise. Comes with a 275W power supply, which will probably require an upgrade sooner rather than later. My experience with Dell power supplies has not been good.
Other Thoughts: I bought this in order to migrate from the soon to be unsupported XP to Win7. The machine I received has Dell service tag# 3HTR9Y1. If you want to know exactly what you'll be getting, plug that in on the Dell support site. Includes keyboard, mouse, DVI/VGA adapter plug, DisplayPort/DVI dongle, Win7 re-install CD and Utilities/Drivers CD (both already installed).READ FULL REVIEW
