Pros: Easy to setup and has a great UI. Operates quietly.
Cons: Not all usb 3.0 drives were recognized at first but DSM support for external hardware has improved over the time I've had the NAS.
Other Thoughts: If your in the market for a fast and reliable NAS or are new to Network storage, Synology makes a great easy to use box. DSM allows for easy setup and management but includes tools for the power user as well. Running 4x 3tb WD RED drives in a SHR config.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: -stays cool
-80-90 MB/s over SATA
-Large capacity for an absurd price.
Cons: both my perc 5/i and perc 6/i raid cards only showed 2tb vs 2.78tb. my linux box showed 802gb. be prepared to troubleshoot on some systems to get these to full capacity. I was also a bit worried about getting a DOA after reading many reviews on these drives. Not really a con, but it felt risky when I ordered these (newegg take note)
Other Thoughts: I'm really pleased so far. I bought 2 drives to test out as a mirroed drive in my win7 box. so far, so good. had no issues formatting or setting them up. I've always had drive problems in my workstation due to heat, but after tossing 1tb of data onto these over night, they are still pretty cool, maybe around 30-35c ( without forced air). I'll be picking more up soon for a new raid array. the price is too good to be true.READ FULL REVIEW
