Categories > Wireless Adapters > Rosewill > Rosewill RNX-AC1200PCE - Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC a/b/g/n, Up to 867 Mbps (5.0 GHz) + 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) Wi-Fi Data Rates, PCI-E Interface

Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2 Works but needs some help with win 10
Pros: It works after pulling driver from Rosewill website
Cons: No difference it speed noticed over wifi...yet
Other Thoughts: Pulled an older Rosewill 150 card out and installed this one. Just ordered ac1200 router hopefully that will show in an increase in speed. I may have to remove the older drivers from the previous card. Might take some time but we'll see what the ne router does first. Once I installed the drivers right from the web for win 10, the card was recognized and installed picking up my wifi, connected no problem. I'm assuming my old router is the cause and will add another egg later if warranted. There is a really good review below that is helpful when installing this card. I also caught it with a good size promo which made this a great value
UPDATE: Now crashes win 10 when ever i click on 5G signal and enter password-could be a new driver that is causing it but it takes a little finesse to get the darn thing going in the first place, which is fine but im not going to continue to reset the driver when theres a win update

Categories > Wireless Adapters > TP-Link > TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4 GHz 450 Mbps / 5 GHz 450 Mbps, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP / WPA / WPA2, Plug & Play in Windows 8

Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2 Not recommended for 5 GHz + Windows 10
Pros: The only pro to this PCIe wireless adapter card is that the 2.4 GHz radio is reliable and connects effortlessly.
Cons: I figured that I would try and beat the odds by installing this in a Windows 10 machine and not have any issues since I'm in the Information Technology and Electronics Industry. I figured that a couple of decades of networking experience would carry me through...... not. I've tried the card using Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Pro Anniversary Update and Windows 10 Pro Creators Update. All 3 versions of this card on the various Win10 Pro releases reproduces the same problem. A fresh install, or reinstall (as long as I flush the wireless profiles in Win10 prior to reinstalling) will allow me to successfully connect to my Netgear WNDR4500 WiFi Router's 5 GHz channel. But this adapter will constantly drop the 5 GHz connection and attempt to revert to the 2.4 GHz connection. This can be during actual use, or 100% of the time after resuming from sleep or a full restart. Even if the 2.4 GHz connection isn't configured (but the router radio is transmitting). I have 3 Windows 10 Pro computers and 1 Windows 7 Pro computer running on my home / office network. All Windows 10 machines exhibit the same problem. The Windows 7 machine does not. I also have multiple other wireless devices that are 5 GHz wireless N equipped (tablets and phones) and all of these can reliable connect to and hold a 5 GHz connection to the Netgear WNDR4500 WiFi router.

So while the card isn't a complete paper weight, it does fail to do what I needed it to do when I purchased it. Primarily connect a Windows 10 based computer that is a media workstation to the 5 GHz wireless channel. I've tried auto-negotiation of the channels, manually assigning and setting every possible 5 GHz, every possible driver I could find and all to no avail.

Long story short, if you're on Windows 7 or using this PCIe wireless adapter to connect your IOS or Android based devices you're good to go. But if you want this to work with Windows 10 machines you're better off looking elsewhere.

I want to emphasize that the 2.4 GHz receiver on this cards works really well with Windows 10, the 5.0 GHz receiver is it's achilles heel.
Other Thoughts: Since I spent over 45 days experimenting and all other sorts of tom-foolery with this card and Windows 10, I exceeded NewEggs' 45 day return for refund policy. I could send it in for a replacement, but I'm not convinced that is even worth the trouble. So for now I'm stuck with it (or it's stuck with me). I'll likely pull the card and revert back to a wired connection for that particular machine, even if it means the unsightly wires I was trying to eliminate in the first place.

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Plug and play on Windows 10
Pros: Compact and easy to install. Just plug it in. My son's laptop is older and the Wi-Fi was not working well. This little adapter works perfectly.
Cons: No negative points so far.
Other Thoughts: Based on price and functionality I recommend this product.

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 Improves range significantly
Pros: - Works with Windows & Linux (didn't try macOS)
- Quite compact for a high-gain device
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: Used to have 1 out of 4 bars of Wi-Fi reception in a university dorm. With this, I get 4 out of 4 bars and the performance gain is very noticeable - no more connection drops and speeds are much higher. Got it to work with Ubuntu 17.04 after a bit of searching.

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 works great in Ubuntu but one has to hunt for a Windows 10 driver
Pros: cheap and decent performance
Cons: It's a pain to get it to work with Windows 10. Neither the Windows 10 default driver nor the ones on the CD work reliably. Took me a while to find out that that an older driver 2007.3.821.2012 dated 8/21/2012 works. Unfortunately I tried so many that I forgot where I got it.

Categories > Wireless Adapters > TP-Link > TP-LINK Archer T9E AC1900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter Support Windows 10 with New Driver Update

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Great potential, but it still doesn't work with Windows 10!
Pros: -Fast when you download a different Lenovo Driver
Cons: -Doesn't work with Windows 10 on stock drivers
-FREQUENTLY drops signal even with the Lenovo Driver others had suggested.
Other Thoughts: I gave this product multiple weeks to hopefully improve, but it's getting seemingly worse. I'm always having to restart my machine because it will not connect back to the internet.

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 keeps dropping signal
Pros: when I bought this it was on sale for like $10, that's why I bought it
Cons: it's absolutely awful, I have a 180Mb/s connection and this thing gives me about 2Mb/s depending on the day. about once a week it just decides to stop working making we want to pull my hair out but then the next day it's fine. Currently it's not working so I'm about to go buy a new card bc I'm so done with this crap
Other Thoughts: spend a little more money and buy a better card
