Categories > Action Cameras > Gigabyte Communication > GIGABYTE JOLT Duo - Dual Lens True 360° VR Camera

Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1Rating + 1 Beware!!! Zero software and on-line support.
Pros: - Easy set up, ready to shoot once the battery is fully charged
- Wifi and IOS
- Compatible with any GoPro/generic mounts.
Cons: - Sharing! It requires a converter that cost $180 (Skybox) just so you can upload it to YouTube and a metadata injector. Facebook? Forget it.
- On-line support from Gygabyte. I mean just check out their Jolt 360 page.
- To find their IOS at the APP store, you better have a QR Code reader or good-luck finding the right Jolt app.
- The only way to view your footage is through their PC/IOS app. I tried using another program (on a trial period because it was expensive) and the quality was very poor "unwraped" and "stiched," or basically after a third program finally got it to be viewable in YouTube/Facebook.
Other Thoughts: - I understand the 360 industry is new, but no one should have to dish out twice the price of the product for you to edit and/or share a footage. It is the age of sharing.
- This product has potential even great, at that price point, but without software support, it is not worth over $2.

Categories > Action Cameras > Olympus America Inc. > OLYMPUS TOUGH TG-Tracker V104180BU000 Black 8 MP 1.5" Tilt-Out LCD Display, 115K Action Camera

Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3Rating + 3 Great camera hardware. Absolutly worthless software for the extra data it collects
Pros: Great for underwater. Great video quality. Small, Water proof without extra case. I took it down to about 80ft deep with no problems. Love the extra data it collects, but read the cons relating to actually trying to use this data.
Cons: Screen doesn't rotate, it would be nice if it rotated at least 180 degrees.
buttons are close together, so not good for gloved hands.
Can't delete data logs unless you format or erase everything on the card.
SOFTWARE THAT OVERLAYS ALL THE EXTRA DATA ONLY RUNS ON A PHONE OR A TABLET, THUS IT CAN'T BE PUT OVER 4K VIDEO. Makes all that data almost useless. See full review below for more detailed explanation of how amazingly frustrating the software is.
Other Thoughts: Overall, I really like this camera. Unfortunately the software developers at Olympus have almost made all the features that make the TG-Tracker stand out from the crowd irrelevant. For that reason I’m giving it 3 stars. If you don't care about all that extra telemetry it's probably a 4, if not 5 star device.

So, short review is; great camera that can be even better in the next version. Absolutely horrible software solution. And if you want to use the GPS, Elevation/Depth, Compass, and Temperature data that is probably why your are considering this and not a comparably price GoPro Session, the software makes it such a chore that’s it’s almost not worth dealing with.

Hardware: I've mainly used this camera for scuba diving, going down to about 80 feet with no issues. But I did play with it mounted to my car as well. It did a fantastic job underwater. I’ve shot in both HD and 4k, and both are excellent quality. Battery life, even with tracking on seems to be very good. I changed out batteries after each dive (about 45minutes) but the indicator makes me belie I could have maybe gotten 2 dives, or more, out of 1 battery charge. I also found that I like feature they called “loop”. You can set it to record a series of videos of a set length. So my dives where recorded in a series of 5 minute videos. But it’s not quite perfect. You can’t delete or rename the data log files. This is my biggest complaint. I ended up with 4 or 5 short logs and 1 long one that I wanted. But when you go to import them with the software there is no way to know which one you need. You can erase video files, or everything on the card. Not just the data log files. I find the buttons to be a bit too close together. I don’t think it will be very easy to operate anything but the record button and on/off with even thin summer mountain bike gloves on. I couldn’t get it to switch to data mode and display the compass on the screen while I was underwater. I can’t find anyway to disable sound recording. In most of the ways I intend on using this camera recording sound serves only to take up space and decrees recording time. It’s all or nothing with Temperature, GPS, Compass, and depth/elevation data. The flip out screen is nice, but at least a 180 degrees of rotation would be more nice.
The software is where I have some major complaints, First, and perhaps biggest, is the fact that the only software (OI.TRACKER) that can make use of all that cool extra data ONLY RUNS ON A PHONE/TABLE. THERE IS NO COMPUTER VERSION OF OI.SHARE. Your phone/tablet probably can’t work with or handle 4k video, even if OI.Share would import them, which it wont. So all that cool telemetry you captured can’t be overlaid on a 4k video. I tried processing the videos with overlay on my Galaxy S7 and on an Asus ZenPad S 8.0. The software just kept crashing on the Galaxy. On the Asus tablet it failed on average 3 out of every 4 times. The instructions for working with video is very vague. It’s clear that this software was written for JPG files, not video. After some trial and error I learned that you must first import your HD files, can’t use 4k, with OI.Share, then you have to use OI.Tracker to import the data file that has all the cool telemetry. THEN you use (try to use) OI.Tracker to overlay the info onto an HD video (can’t be 4K). I seriously hope Olympus has some strong words with whomever is in charge of these decisions and has them create a PC based version of OI.Tracker so I can use my 3.6 ghz i7 processor to get that cool information onto a 20 minute 4K video. For now I’m stuck with HD video being processed on a 1.3ghz tablet. Next you MUST import files over the wifi connection with the camera. The software will NOT import video or data logs from the card if you take it from the camera and put it into your phone/tablet. And lastly, the stupid software disconnects the wifi from the camera after every transfer. The process is
1) hook up wifi.
2) open OI.Share and import a video (gotta do them 1 at a time because the software can't use my 128gb card)
3) realize you grabbed wrong video.
4) hook up wifi
5) use OI.Share to get video
6) hook up wifi
7) Open OI.Tracker and import data log.
8) realize you didn’t get right data log.
9) hook up wifi
10) import another data log
11) attempt to export HD video (no 4K) with overlay.
12) wait 15 minutes to discover video export failed.
13) repeat step 12
14) repeat step 12
15) repeat step 12, only with success.
16) repeat steps 1, 2 and 11 to 15 for next video.

For all my complaints I’m not unhappy with the camera, I’m basically in the same place I’d be if I bought a GoPro Session and an underwater case. At least I don’t have to worry about the case I guess. And I'm really hoping Olympus software gets their act together and creates a PC solution to working with this camera. Dare I hope that it's a 1 application solution, and not 2 separate ones?

Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5Rating + 5 First GoPro I'm Impressed
Pros: Waterproof, Touchscreen and really easy to use. Had it mounted on my backpack strap and shot at 1080p 60fps, loved all the footage it took.
Cons: The only problem I had would be battery life. Other than that I really love this action Camera.
Other Thoughts: I would recommend this camera to anyone.

Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2 Bad quality video.
Pros: Does 360 video and has an app that works well with android. low price.
Cons: Video is so bad that its pointless. I would compare any angle viewed with 320x240 resolution. You can barely make out any detail.
Other Thoughts: would not buy again or recommend. In process of trying to return it.

Categories > Action Cameras > GoPro > GoPro HERO5 Black CHDHX-501 Black 12 MP 2" Sports & Action Camcorders

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 The best action camera I've ever used.
Pros: The two biggest improvements over previous gopro models are voice commands and the waterproof build which keeps it from needing a casing. I've used this camera for several ski trips and it's great to use voice command instead of pulling gloves off. Takes excellent quality video.
Cons: UI can be a bit difficult to navigate if using the cell phone app, could be iOS problem or it could be the camera, but when the app is working you can control multiple GoPro cameras at once.
Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this camera!!

Categories > Action Cameras > Gigabyte Communication > GIGABYTE JOLT Duo - Dual Lens True 360° VR Camera

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 Great entry level 360 camera for price point....
Pros: Software well designed and intuitive to use
Inexpensive 360 camera for someone looking to purchase
Lightweight and very small
Able to use smart device to view camera realtime over camera generated wifi hotspot, playback videos directly from device to smart device or download videos to smart device
Great outdoor camera, high quality images in daylight
Accessory kits contain every possible connector I might need to attach the camera.
No stitching or rendering of images or video required in software.
Cons: Does not produce quality photos/video in lower indoor light conditions, becomes grainy.
While it claims to be a 360 degree camera with no blindspots it says right on the box that each fisheye lens only has a 220 degree viewing radius, so not sure how that is supposed to work....
Gigabyte website says it has halted all North America sales and focusing on European market, while they say warranties will be honored that might not be a good thing long term, probably why it's onsale.
Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this to someone who wants an inexpensive 360 device to explore the 360 degree shooting world, but for a semiprofessional or professional, shoot a little hirer, maybe Nikon. I don't regret buying this camera despite its cons.

Pros: Good clarity, it's a 360 degree camera.. very nice
Cons: 360 degree camera, everything looking from fisheye.. lol
Other Thoughts: Short battery life, 1.5 to 2 hr recording after fully charged,
No replaceable battery means your recording time is very limited.

Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4Rating + 4 fun stuff with reasonable price
Pros: light, can bring it anywhere
easily operate and directly upload 360 photo to fb
not expensive at all
Cons: hope there is a rope which can tied to the wrist to prevent falling
Other Thoughts: Go Pro is my top choice actually, but too expensive to afford.
Then I found Duo 360 which is very cool. Still has a lot of room to improve the resolution though.
