The 250 Gb drive only registered as a 150 Gb drive when installed. I was given credit for spending the time to fix the problem myself rather than sending it back and possibly getting another like it. After working with it about an hour doing things that many buyer could not have done I was able to access the lost 100 Gb and the drive tested out OK and appears to be working fine now! Should never have left the shop in that condition!!

It took two weeks to arrive, even though I paid for fast shipping. When it did nothing. DOA Not recognized by Windows or Linux. What a waste of time and money. I am going through Chemo and battling stage 4 cancer. This I didn't need.

I would have given them a lower rating if it was available. I can't believe that New Egg would sell from a vendor such as this. No recourse apparently. Just out the money.

WD 3 TB NAS deceptive advertising 5/27/2016 1:50:35 PM
Good price for new 3 TB NAS, but I received a recertified product instead of new retail version. Nothing on the web page accessed on Newegg indicated that the NAS was recertified. All information indicated a full 3 yr warranty and a new product.

DOA and almost out of warranty 5/2/2016 12:25:19 PM
While the price from this retailer was great the unit was DOA. So I request an RMA from Grassroots Computer but they directed me to WD tech-support with no explanation or other options. WD tech-support determined the unit was DOA. Even though I had just purchased the unit WD said the 2 year warrant would expire in 3 months so they are going to replace the unit and extent the warranty. WD tech-support was very helpful unlike this seller.

This was a horrible experience and has forced me to never again shop with either NewEgg and certainly not GrassRoots.

I ordered a 3TB WD MyCloud from the NewEgg website. Turns out it's actually being sold by GrassRoots, but I had no clue of that, I thought I was buying from NewEgg as I had before.

The item was not listed anywhere as anything other than brand new, but when it arrived on the bottom tag it said: "recertified in Poland." So I tried to call GrassRoots because the receipt said their name, but no answer. Then I called NewEgg. The rep was very helpful and immediately when he looked at the website he said: "this definitely doesn't say anywhere that it's refurbished, you should have gotten a new item." So he began the process of trying to help me remedy this and get what I paid for.

First, he tried to contact GrassRoots himself (after looking at the reviews online he said that it looks like they're known for this type of bait and switch technique). GrassRoots never got back to him or myself, and so after A WEEK....I finally heard back that I had been approved for an RMA. In the meantime, because it took so long, I had chatted online with another rep from GrassRoots, first, it was Saber (who wasn't very nice or helpful) then Hugh (who was a bit better). I spent about 2 hours chatting with them, to finally learn that the previous rep was still working my case and I needed to wait for him to get resolution. They said I'd hear in 48 hours.

48 hours later, I still hadn't heard, so I called back and spoke with another rep. He was very nice and tried to help, but ultimately said I needed to wait on the first rep, Edward, to work with the "marketplace team," to get resolution.

Finally, the next day I got an email with an RMA, asking me to ship the item back in. This was fine, but all I had ever wanted was what I paid for. So I called in and spoke with Edward, trying to get them to ship me the item. He said the best they could do, was to have me send it back in, wait on a refund, and then call back in and they'd help me process a new purchase. In the end, I'd get a $20 discount on a brand new 3TB MyCloud because NewEgg didn't sell it for as cheap as GrassRoots was selling it via NewEgg.com.

I'm sorry, but after waiting three weeks total at this point, getting a $20 discount is a pittance. I never wanted anything other than the MyCloud. The moment they learned about the bait and switch that GrassRoots had pulled, by using NewEgg's website and good name...they should have made moves to ship me out the item I had bought. Why do I need to be further inconvenienced, and wait to have them figure out what to do, and after two weeks from when I ordered it, and a week from when the refurbished model arrived, I then get an RMA to send back in the item refurbished, that I didn't purchase....as I purchased a brand new one. I never wanted a refund, I only wanted a new MyCloud.

During the process of NewEgg trying to deal with GrassRoots, I'm inconvenienced and waiting. They could have handled all that on their own, shipped me a new MyCloud and a return address label so I could return the refurbished one, and let me go on down the road. Instead, I had to wait for them to figure it out, then wait further while I ship the item back and wait on a refund. That part really irked me. Why not have NewEgg collect the refund from GrassRoots, and keep it, in the meantime send me what I paid for!?

In the end, I got the RMA, and was told to ship back the refurbished item and wait on my refund, then call back in, and have a new item ordered using the money I was refunded. I have not done this, and likely will not...because the RMA was good for 14 days and guess what....it included NO RETURN ADDRESS LABEL! It simply said to put the RMA in the package, along with a label on the outside (made very clear it wasn't a return address label but their internal logistic information). So I called into NewEgg and told them I needed a return address label....(now like my 10th call about this stupid issue that in one call should have been handled by sending me the right item and emailing me a return address label for the faulty refurbished one. I don't think it's even proper for me to have to wait on them to get back the refurbished one I was returning....they needed to send me the new one immediately, and wait for my return...which I'd have immediately sent). The mistake was theirs, so why make me wait another minute unnecessarily?

I don't have the cash to pay for the return shipping, even though NewEgg said they'd reimburse me once it arrived....it's just a bad timing, so I don't have the money and I'm stuck now with the refurbished item. I'm very angry about this, as I was sold a new MyCloud, and sent a refurbished one....then ultimately told to ship it back on my own dollar, and once refunded then receive a new one after calling back in to purchase it.

Total joke, I'll spread the word.

Never received ordered item. After 2 weeks of trying to get refund/replacement, I have had no contact from the seller. Will never order from them again. Disappointed that NewEgg (who has always been great) has not corrected the issue. By the way, the GOOGLE TRUSTED STORE "protection" was of no value at all. They did nothing as far as I can tell.

Overall a good experience. Just wish the device did not die in the first 3 hours of having it installed. Delivery was swift and the return process was smooth - not sure if it was all newegg or grassroots. Overall the experience was what I expected.

I ordered a 1 x Refurbished: WD Elements 2TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive WDBU6Y0020BBK-NESN Black from this company it arrived broken. Attempting to RMA and it's been a long while with no communication so I am out 70$. Terrible.
