Does the newer model have a hole for a small cord to attach to a keychain? It looks like it does in one picture. Would likely buy this if it has this feature.

Yes it does. I threaded it onto a lanyard from an older flash drive. The hole is not very large so it does require a thread not too much bigger than thick dental floss.

Question 2

Although I realize it will not be as fast, will this USB 3.0 flash drive work properly and communicate properly with the USB 2.0 ports on my computer and also with the audio system USB port on my car?

It should work. USB 3.0 flash drives should be backwards compatible to USB 2.0. Although, you should check with your audio system manufacture that it doesn't need any firmware updates to the audio system to accept the new flash drive. I know some systems have a strict storage size restriction (e.g. 16GB max).

What is the maximum rated Read Speed and Write speeds on this drive? I have narrowed my purchase options down to two drives in about the same price range and want to know this for this drive before ordering.

This is the only speed test I found for this drive. I only have USB 2 in the office so cant test well in this environment.

It mostly depends on your ability to make a flash drive bootable and the configuration/ability of the system that you would like to use it to boot.
Thumb drives are not inherently "bootable" or "not-bootable"; they're just dumb storage.

Question 5

Have you used this as storage space for an Xbox 360?  Does it report as fast enough from the system?

Have not. Used it with my phone via otg usb and my PC with no issues.only time I've had any issues with this is on aftermarket car radios when playing audio mp3's would skip. Otherwise it's super fast, no problems.

Do I need to format this flash drive to a Mac straight out of the box or is it already formatted for Macs?

Mine installed with FAT32, so you probably would have to format it in some version of HFS or HFS+, but I believe Mac should do it rather easily behind the scenes to get it working. But, keep in mind the Secure Software they included will only work with Intel based Macs and not the older Power Macs & etc. not using a PC based CPU.

Would this be good to use for readyboost?

I have not used ready boost for several year, but I am pretty sure this USB would do the job for you, although it is much larger than needed.  Another factor for your consideration is your system, its type and quantity of memory, and whether you're using an HDD or SSD for your hoot drive and such.  Good luck.
