ProdigyProdigy

Meticulously crafted and beautifully engineered, Prodigy redefines the Mini-ITX chassis. The compact housing is suspended by handles made with BitFenix FyberFlex™ Composite for easy portability and maximum shock absorption. On the inside, our modular FlexCage™ gives you the flexibility to install up to five 3.5" hard disks or 2.5" SSDs, or remove it entirely to fit up to 240mm watercooling radiators and long graphics cards. For added flexibility, additional SSD locations are also included, and a choice of Midnight Black or Arctic White with interchangeable front facades mean Prodigy will suit your individual style. With tool-free convenience, two USB 3.0 ports, filtered intakes, and proprietary BitFenix SofTouch™ Surface Treatment, Prodigy is the compact case with no compromises.

Unmatched Flexibility

Despite its small stature, Prodigy is engineered for maximum flexibility. Remove the top HDD cage to fit long graphics cards up to 320mm in length. Bolt a 240mm water cooling radiator in the top, or if the build demands it, remove the entire HDD cage and put the 240mm radiator in the front, while still being able to install up to five 2.5" drives. With multiple installation options, Prodigy is a small case that truly does it all.

FyberFlex™ Composite Technology

FyberFlex™ Composite Technology

Both the top and bottom handles of Prodigy are made from BitFenix FyberFlex™ Composite - a revolutionary material that is not only flexible, but incredibly strong. Fastened on both the top and bottom of the chassis, these handles are a convenient way to carry Prodigy, while providing added shock absorption during transport.

cute but flawed

Pros: a cute eye catching case. easy to transport with handles on top.

Cons: usb ports on side panel are poorly held in place by cheap little brackets that are essentially worthless because the usb ports won't stay in place and get pushed in when adding a peripheral. The cooling is a challenge. Had to purchase a different mesh front panel because the one that comes with it was suffocating hardware. also, I had to remove the plexiglass on the opposite side panel because the graphic card was getting way too hot under lightly stressed conditions.

Little Green Machine

Pros: First, looks. Assuming you want a green case (you DID notice this was greener than Kermit's whole family, right?), this one is fantastic. The paint is nice, and scratch-resistant enough to hold up after I dropped the side panel on a wood floor during initial setup (whoops!).

Second, accessibility. Both side panels come off, sure, that's nice. However, this thing has a moon roof. The top part pops right off if you need a vantage point looking down, which is handy for, say, installing additional RAM while the motherboard is in place.

Third, silence. This could vary depending on if you have a CPU or video card which runs hot, I suppose. I have a Kabini APU which only uses 25w of power, so there isn't much to keep cool. Just the same, I can run the front and back case fan, the CPU fan, and the video card's fan, and not hear a thing in this case. It's like a padded room in a mental hospital.

Cons: The thumb screws for the PCI slots in the back are a bit cumbersome. Two slots, three thumb screws.

I'm not a huge fan of the logo on the front of the case. But since my number one "pro" was looks, I don't think it detracts too much.

Other Thoughts: I installed a PICO PSU for my mini-ITX board, so I did not have to install traditional PSU to install. As such, I cannot review that aspect of using this case.

Would not buy again or recommend...

Pros: Customizable up to a point.
Bright green color.
Window on side panel.
Has handles

Cons: Bad fit for modular power supplies. Squeezed it in, but cables were really crunched against the lower harddrive cage.
Cheap plastic handles. Will have to reinforce with metal.
Inadequate air inflow on the front for a 120mm fan, much less a 230mm.
Bad fit for a Corsair H55 water cooler, had to stick it on the front at an angle.
Weird hard drive trays. Unintuitive design, don't know why they thought it would work well.

Not going to fault the case for this, but wasn't listed on the specifications that the case supported fans greater that 120mm.
Wider than it had to be. New it was wide going in, but still... really wide. Larger than my micro-ATX case.

Other Thoughts: Biggest regret of a newegg purchase ever.

I read one guy on here cut a dragon design on the front panel. I might have to do something like that to provide enough air inflow. The cpu temp without the front panel on, compared to on, was < 20+ degrees on full cpu load.

Awesome Case!

Pros: Sleek, made of metal DIY friendly. I cut a massive dragon in to the front of this case and added black mesh behind it for the 200mm green fan i installed. also have a extra thick 120mm radiator for processor cooling 2 SSD and 3HDD and a full length GPU and a blueray drive in this case! and a total of 5 fans...totall worth it

Cons: modular power supplies dont fit...i cut a hole in the back of the psu bay easily solving this issue

Other Thoughts: love the design and ability to fully take this thing apart

Fatty

Pros: Very Nice looking! I bought this case with the idea of building a LAN box. Just a small powerful gaming machine that I could take over to friends houses.

Cons: This case is FAT! I did not realize how big it was. It may not be as tall as a normal case but it is much wider then a normal case. This case was not nearly as light and small as I had thought.

Other Thoughts: I hate the window! I think its cheesy. But the product is as advertised so cant blame them for that. Over all I will be buying another one soon.

Fooled by the Green Monster

Pros: Really cool green color and light weight.

Cons: The top of the case was tightened so hard by the manufacturer that it broke three of the for screw brackets when I first opened the case up arrival. The fans only have 2 four pin connectors and most if not all ITX boards only have 2 which one is used for your CPU. Now I must go buy some connectors to attach to the power supply. Also, buy a MB with the extra USB connector on the MotherBoard or the side USBs will go to waste. Overall very disappointed.

Other Thoughts: There are probably much better cases out there so do your homework and try not get sucked in by the nuclear green color.

Very fun case...

Pros: -Good looking case with quality feel to the outside.
-Near full customization of the inside, moving around Hard drive bays and fans.

Cons: - Handles are somewhat sharp and flexible, even the bottom ones are flexible which is strange. Carrying the case with all components in can be uncomfortable but not unbearable.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if it would be considered a con for all, if you use a 2 slot thick graphics card the on board fan for the gpu is very close to the case window (about 1/2") I drilled holes in the window to allow it to vent better.

Excellent case.

Pros: Very sexy case, it's hard to find something bad to say about it.

- The black rim on the front face of the case are little holes for airflow, plus you can take the front off for more airflow, since there's a hexagon mesh behind the front plate.

- The power and reset buttons on the right side are very clicky - I like that.

- The removable and cleanable dust filter on the bottom is a nice touch, with your PSU there and all.

- There are 2 SSD slots in the right panel.

- Comes with 2 fans. (bitfenix specteres I think)

- Has mobo standoffs.

Cons: - Kind of heavy, even with nothing in it.

- Without the optical drive bay attached into the top of the case, the removable extra 3 HDD drive bays will not stay down if you're bumping and moving this case around.

- Handles on top will cut your hands off if you're carrying this around for longer than 5 minutes.

- No side panel airflow.

Other Thoughts: Besides being a great case, here are some other things you should know before buying:

- The red, orange, white, black prodigies have ventilation in the left side panel, the green and blue ones have a glass window, but no holes.

- To install a optical drive, or a temp controller, there's a metal piece held by 2 very small, thin bits of metal that you have to punch out.

- The "bitfenix softtouch" surface coating only applies to the handles, top, bottom, and front. The rest is painted steel. (yes, steel side panels)

- The feet are the same as the handles, they will move around a little, much more noticeable on a hard surface. If you have something that creates vibrations like nuts, it might be noticeable. (like your PSU, which btw had little rubber feet in the case for your PSU)

That's about it, I'd give this case 4.5 eggs, but the system doesn't allow that.

Totally recommend over any other mITX case as of 7/10/13.
