I don't fully understand, if this uses the old USB connector in the motherboard (Gen1) It can still work as Gen2?? or will it be limited ad 5Gbps?

My motherboard is an Asus Z370 Gaming E (having both the 3.1 gen 1 internal connector and the new Gen2 connector)

You know you didn't answer the question right? I understand that I replaces the other connector but my question was if this worked as Gen 2, but I did already find out elsewhere, and turns to be it does not. So it's pointless for me to change this if I get no benefit out of it.

Hello, I'm not sure about this item, because it uses the USB 3.1 Gen 1 internal connector and I wanna be sure it will work at full Gen2 speeds (10Gbps) and not at Gen1. 
I have an Asus Strix z370 Gaming-e motherboard and It has both connectors, (gen1 and gen2) and I just want to make sure it will work as a real gen2 connector or not
Do you have any with the Gen2 internal connector instead?

The internal motherboard connector on my Asus ROG Zenith Extreme states that this is not gen 2 compliant. It is, in fact, USB 3.1gen1 (5gb). You need either the Lian Li PW-IC01NH45 or similar, with that specific connector for it to be USB 3.1gen2 (10gbps).
