Fantastic Budget Compact Board

Pros: - Nice layout makes building easy to manage despite board's size
- A bootable NVME M.2 slot is a great feature for this price point, though I personally don't use it
- Ample USB ports for a mATX board
- Very similar BIOS to higher-priced Asrock boards, clean and easy to navigate
- Manuals provided are mostly clear and helpful
- Competitive price and value

Cons: - This version ONLY has DVI output
- Doesn't quite feel as structurally solid as other boards
- Asrock does not provide helpful information regarding some more advanced parts of the BIOS, but information can be found through Google sometimes if desired.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately, I did not read the specs of this board closely enough to realize that this version of the motherboard only supports DVI output from the processor's iGPU via the motherboard. If you want HDMI from the motherboard, you will need to purchase the HDV version of this board. Fortunately, DVI to HDMI adapters can be found inexpensively.

I use this motherboard in an inexpensive, low-powered and quiet build with an A6-9500E in an mATX case. The first board I bought works perfectly, and I did not need to RMA any boards to get a working one. Originally intended for light usage, I found myself using the computer a lot while procrastinating on repairing my main computer, which had a failed Asus motherboard. This usage mainly consisted of playing Warframe with a friend. I quickly found the R5 integrated graphics to be insufficient, even for Warframe.

As such, I added my spare card, a Sapphire Radeon RX 460, to it. I was pleased to find that in light of the small size of the board, I had little difficulty installing the graphics card as the slot is sufficiently below the CPU socket. I also noticed that the board flexed in a way which made me uncomfortable when I went to insert the card. The board did not break, but I still would consider it a con since this took my peace of mind away from me for a moment. I noticed this when I inserted my memory stick too, but to a lesser effect. Also, I was pleased to find that I can switch between the iGPU and the graphics card in BIOS, so I only use the graphics card when gaming, and the iGPU for everything else to save power and lighten the PSU's load.

The UEFI BIOS are visually pleasing and easy to navigate. Most settings have help strings which clearly describe what the settings are. The layout is user-friendly, placing more commonly useful settings at the tops of their categories and in easy-to-find places. There are settings which are more advanced and I/O-specific or AMD-specific. These settings are confusing if you're unfamiliar with them. They lack effective help strings from Asrock, but In my experience I find that no motherboard manufacturers do very well in describing these settings. This is mostly due to the complex nature of these settings.

Overall, if you are OK with having only DVI output from the iGPU, or are intending to use a graphics card, this board is a great compact budget choice and made me an Asrock fan. I now have an Asrock Fatal1ty B450 board in my main computer after being impressed by the value and BIOS of this motherboard, and I am absolutely satisfied with that board too. Once again, if you do need HDMI, consider the HDV version of this board instead of the DGS version. Otherwise, I would recommend this board/brand. Thanks for reading my review, hopefully you found it helpful!

Good!

Pros: - Cheap

Cons: - Minimalist (only 2 RAM slots, no HDMI, only one DVI)

Other Thoughts: I bought it with a Ryzen3 2200G. So far, everything works perfectly. I think this is a nice cheap minimalist motherboard that does the job pretty well!

Notes:
- I had to update my BIOS in order to be able to detect my Crucial mx300 M.2 SSD
- I had to remove the pre-installed heatsink fixatures in order to be able to install the AMD Wraith Stealth heatsink that comes with the processor

Good

Pros: Works
Cheap

Cons: No HDMI
Don’t think it supports over clicking on the apu/cpu

Other Thoughts: I am using this board in my current and first ever build. When I first built the computer I made some rookie mistakes thankfully the computer did not break. Could not for the life of my figure out why the heck the thing would not turn on so finally I took everything apart and put it all back to gether works now no more problems so far. I think the 24 pin power connection was the problem seemed a bit loosely plugged in. Make sure to plug it in fully

STAY AWAY!... Refuses to function when utilizing either PCI slot

Pros: - Small
- Nicely laid out

Cons: - Does not function when PCI slot is utilized
- No HDMI port
- Few options for troubleshooting

Other Thoughts: 2 stars and above is for rating products that fully function. This one (decidedly) does not. For context, my layout is as follows:

- AMD A6-9500 Processor
- Corsair 450 CX-M Power Supply
- 8 GB Adata XPG 2400 RAM
- RX 560, RX 550, RX 460 GPU... tried all three permutations
- SeaGate 1GB Barracuda for storage

Motherboard boots just fine without a GPU, not a problem in the world. Drop anything into the PCI slot, forget about it. Black screen, all the way. Checked for hardware damage, tried updating drivers, switched to different GPUs to make sure its not a power draw issue, even tried utilizing a different OS. All equipment checked out... it just doesn't work. For comparison, I ran an equitable Gigabyte motherboard just last week with the same components; it boots right up. No fuss.

This is my second (of two, i.e. 100% fail rate) problematic ASRock Motherboard. I will be staying away from the them in the future, and I would suggest other consumers do the same.

Be sure to push hard to seat RAM

Pros: It does what it is supposed to.

Cons: It is difficult to seat the RAM.

Other Thoughts: I thought I had a DOA piece like others. I read another review that said the RAM took more pressure than usual to seat. I messed with troubleshooting the computer for several hours before I found that review. I went back and pressed much harder to seat the RAM and "BAZINGA!" everything was now working.

Don't give up on the motherboard until you press the RAM in with a little more authority.

Inexpensive and works, but lacking some basic functions.

Pros: -small
-has m.2
-inexpensive

Cons: -only supports one display on a digital output only.
-doesn't support analog displays

Other Thoughts: I would recommend paying $10.00 more and getting a board that handles analog display signals and has 3 outputs.

Great budget board

Pros: Posted without any issues. For $60 Canadian on Black Friday this board is great. Key features:
-Low price but high end black PCB
-Full feature Bios
-All the basic slots including a M2

Cons: I think the terrible reviews are due to people not seating there ram properly. Installing the Ram into this board took the most force I have ever used to do such an install. The design of the retaining clip requires you to force the Ram in at a slight angle even though there is no give in one of the retaining clips. I had todo the process twice in order to get the Ram in properly.

Not really a con at this price point but this board can only power 65w versions of Ryzen, no 95w chips will work.

Other Thoughts: You can’t beat a solid board at this price with decent construction. Not a perfect board but it is eye catching and cheap which is a difficult combo to find.
