Pros: Great card, I bought this back in March 2009 and finally upgraded it in June 2012. I am still using the card on the family computer though. It still ran any game I tried (Just Cause 2, Mafia 2,Dirt Showdown etc...)
Cons: None, been a great card. But as games get more advanced it was finally time for an upgrade.
Other Thoughts: If you are looking to buy a really cheap gaming system this would be a good choice. This card is obviously not sold new anymore but I've seen them sell at online auctions for $15-$20. Spend $30-$40 and Crossfire them!
Pros: i have a single 3870 and a 3870x2 in tri fire . makes all games very playable. last reviewer stated that 2 3870's is better than a gtx 295. please stop being unrealistic. my 3 3870's cant even come close to a 295. just an older series, nothing against the card. please stop giving advice.
Cons: newer games begin to put a hurting on this series.
Pros: This card, for starters, is a single slot card, which normally does not run as this card does. A normal card like this could run at 60*C, but this card, while having the ability to OC beyond a 810- GPU Clock, and while the Memory Interface was OC'd to 1300 on a GDDR4 card. Is quite incredible and all for under 100 dollars. I do give this card a Five Egg, and besides it's an STL card, they always do me justice.
Cons: If I had any, I would tell you all.
Other Thoughts:
As of now, this product is deactivated. I planned on doing Crossfire with this card for maximum performance, to clock it to be the same, if not better as the nVidia GTX 295
2x STL 3870 overclocked at 810 with GDDR4
Is much better in price and power usage than
1 EVGA GTX 295 clocked at 1792 with GDDR3
I mean, would you rather use Two Six pin PCI or One Six and One eight pin PCI? They both take up two slots, but only Crossfire in this case delivers the better quality and efficiency with cheaper prices and quality.
Also, the STL 3870 does not go over 40*c when OC'd to the max on idle. 50*c when using it in games, which is freaking amazing.
Also, with nVidia, you cant really buy a Sound ready DVI to female HDMI converter of what I know of now. This card does it all plus.
Remember, this is only my opinion, so no hate towards nVidia lovers.
Pros:
Surprisingly fast.
Single slot
Operates cool even in a SFF case
Cheap
Cons: Isn't the fastest ever made? If that can be a con.
Other Thoughts:
Quite simply the best budget card on the market. 70 bucks to play Crysis on high at 1680x1050 in DX9 at an average 30fps.
Plays every other game out there maxed with AA and Aniso. Half-Life Episode two runs on every setting at max and with AA at 8x, and Aniso at 16x butter smooth.
For 70 bucks.
(Running an E5300 at 3.35ghz, 2GB 1066 DDR2)
Pros:
-Fast
-Stable
-Single Slot
-GDDR4 RAM
-Good Price vs. Performance Ratio
Cons: -None
Other Thoughts:
I was able to overclock the core clock from 775 to 860 and the memory from 1126 to 1131 by using ATI Overdrive.
This card was released over 2 years ago, so with that in mind, it will play games from about that time period without any difficulty.
It has certainly breathe new life to games like Dawn of War: Dark Crusade and City of Heroes by allowing me to play at max settings :)
Pros:
I have 2...
The settings on WaW are set to mostly max except aa (4x). Framerates stay steady around around 90 in multiplayer. I don't remember ever seeing a dip below 60 during normal gameplay.
Everything has ran fairly smooth since I got these cards in Feb. '09. I've had the occassional hiccup and headache with drivers but were not too much of an issue (until recently).
Cons:
For the past 2 months problems with the cards are on the rise. Heat has increased quite a bit. Max temps were around 70*C when they were new but now they are both maxing around 90*C. I do plan on putting new thermal paste on them so that may help with the heat.
Lately there has also been some weird activity with lock ups...but only in certain older apps and games. I have always had an issue with the 3870 drivers and trying to find a version that will work with all my games (new and old). After v8.12 was installed everything seemed to work great. This is not a huge con but something worth mentioning.
Other Thoughts:
I have tried to figured out the issue with the computer lock ups but haven't been able to pinpoint anything. I do believe the problem is with the cards because if I use the onboard graphics the problem disappears. It could be related to heat but it is strange that it only happens with certain apps. I have also tried disabling crossfire and hooking up only one card at a time with no change (lockup). No BSoD
Tested Radeon 1650 Pro for possible problems with PCI-e slots. It worked flawlessly.
It could just be that the cards are worn out (both in less than 1 year??) doubt it...
I really am unsure if I would recommend this card. Can't say with complete confidence but they seem to be the root of my problems...
Antec 1200 case (4 intake, 3 exhaust)
Asus M3A78-T Mobo
Phenom 9950be @ 2.8GHz
Corsair Dominator 1066MHz (4gb)

Besides all the intake/exhaust fans there are 3 more 120mm fans inside the case and 1 250mm exhaust on top. Airflow i

Pros: Awesome card- Ran it for just about 4 years with out a glitch. Ran everything I threw at it. Took until now to up grade because of how well they ran in a crossfire mode.
Cons: None
