Best 2080 in the market

Pros: If you are coming from Maxwell this is a great card to upgrade that it will give you 1080ti performance and a bit more. 1070 or 1080 is not really that great of a value card. Was able to get +145 on core clock and +1000 on memory, really awesome since out of a box clocks are already amazing compare to the founders edition. Very quiet card and temps are really good, I have my fan speed at 50% and temps stay 40 to 45 max degrees. Is worth it if you have an old gpu and want to get something great for 1440p at 4k some will be 60 fps but not all and right now as 2/3/2019 1080ti and 1080 are going for 1k if you want a new one unless you don't mind used for 600 to 700. Amazing card by asus and if you are wanting to pick up a 2080 this is the best choice out right now.

Cons: Cons for this card and its not a big deal unless you want to hook up 3 monitors than I wouldn't recommend this card since asus decided to take out one of the display ports and put 2 HDMI insteads.

Improved over GTX980/SLI in every way

Pros: I had two GTX 980 cards, ASUS Strix. They ran hot, and sometimes games don't work right with SLI. This card runs cooler near as I can tell, faster on most games.

Cons: Manual is not helpful

Other Thoughts: GPU Tweak II does an ok job of overclocking the card. The lastest version didn't work at all though, had to use an earlier one. The card seems to keep under 70C. And is pretty quiet. To get the LED lights to sync with Aura, you must dig through the Asus page for a specific download. Once I installed that, lights will sync properly, no need for any additional connection to the motherboard. The card seems physically solid when installed, I was concerned that heavy of a card might have issues. This card seems like a good fit for my ROG motherboard in terms of design.

Occasionally, and so far only in Doom, the video will freeze, along with the sound for a few seconds. Has happened 3 or 4 times, in 10+ hours of play. Not clear what the cause of this is. That never happened with my old video cards.

My PC locked up while playing Civilization 6. I can't point fingers at the card, because I don't know if I was using stock settings at the time.

Overall there's some slight concerns, but I don't like to raise the alarm unless I am seeing repeated issues at stock settings. It's not obvious the card is having issues as I have played Doom for many hours on it, with no issues, other than the random and uncommon freezes.

Card passes 3D Mark Time Spy extreme 10 minute stress test, which I deem pretty good.

This card can't play all games at 60hz minimums at 4k, but that's obvious from the numerous bench tests online. But the only other obvious option is the MUCH more expensive 2080ti, so the resolution is to lower some critical settings, or play in 1440p, or live with 40fps or so ( my typical average for poor performing games.)

1st day Great!

Pros: RIG
*Intel i7 3770K
*Asus Maximus ThunderFX Motherboard
*G.Skill 16G mem
*1000w PSU
*SSD256GB(2 Raid Mode)
*ThermalTake Chaser Case

MONITOR
*Alienware 34" Ultrawide Gaming Monitor(AW3418DW) 3440X1440p

Packaging is perfect but it usually is when your buying an ASUS card(this is my 3rd). Card is safe in transition to you from seller.
Install is very easy
*Card is HUGE - about an inch wider and an inch roughly longer than an EVGA GTX 970 so when thinking about this card plan ahead
Installation CD comes with 411.00 driver - at the time of this review 415. is available on GeForce Experience
*CD comes with the latest version of GPU Tweak and also has GPU-Z as part of it - program is a must have for unlocking the Cards potential(I.E OC Mode - Gaming Mode - Silent Mode - Custom Profile)
This card is several leagues ahead of my 970's in SLI Mode(granted not many PC games takes advantage of SLI but still)
*COD4BLACKOUT at Max settings(3440x1440p res) game never drops below 65 frames, thats with full distance viewing. Seems to stay in the 75 - 95fps unless looking in wide open areas then it drops to mentioned 65 frames
*Anthem - will review once open Beta is available
*Temp seems to stay around 45'c during gaming. Browser use it stays around 25'c. I haven't had much opportunity to push it but thats still a great temp for a GPU. Will get a little more hard on it this weekend - ill update
*Its quiet - Some reviews have said the fans are whiny but I havent experienced that at all. Course that might be because I havent forced it to ramp up yet :)
*comes with some velcro straps for organizing cables in case

*3 year service plan 100% Parts 100% Labor only 70 bucks! Definitely worth it as ASUS Warranty covers 36 Months

This is all with OC Mode, I havent tried it in other modes. Dont see why i would need to as the card is the OC edition.

All in all I'm extremely happy with the card. You notice an immediate upgrade with this card if your replacing a 500 - 900 series card. Its sort of like asking Edward Norton to lift 50 lbs and then asking Arnold Schwarzenegger(in his prime) to lift the same and seeing the struggle difference. Card is great and cheaper than a Ti. Most reviews explained this card was an excellent alternative to the Ti series and performs almost as well. Not bad when your saving 400 - 500 bucks.

Cons: *Well the mentioned size could be a concern for some users - its definitely Big as the reviews on Newegg state

*Price is high - Most I've ever laid down for a GPU but with the string of games coming out in 2019 i dont want my system to be weak in this area so its worth it to me!

User Manual only covers install - in like 10 languages - Installation CD has the manuals for card as well as GPU in PDF form but I like having a hardcopy of my manuals - not really a con for everyone but me certainly

Other Thoughts: Really it depends on what your trying to accomplish. If you have a lower end Monitor maybe you could go more affordable with the graphics card. If you've spent alot of money on a gaming monitor a lower end graphics card wont be able to fully utilize it. Make sure you've done your homework - I chose this card because of its VRAM - Boost Clock - Resolution - Brand - multiple website reviews. Those reviews tested this card on multiple games and all of them place this card right below the Ti's that are much more expensive. I also bought it from Newegg not a third party on Newegg.com because Newegg has the best customer service you could ask for. Means if I have a problem, they have my back.

First card worked a few weeks. Replacement was DOA

Pros: It worked great when it worked

Cons: Aura Sync is glitchy.
Display Ports failed on both cards.

Other Thoughts: I have liked my ROG products in the past. It was a shame I have had 2 RTX 2080s from ASUS fail on me now.

Powerful card for 1440p and 4k gaming

Pros: Plenty of cooling capacity to help keep card quiet even under load.
runs games in 1440p at max settings. Buttery smooth game play with lots of headroom.
Works great at 1440p with G-Sync monitor. This card can push the frames out to get you close to 144Hz refresh rate in many games.
RGB off switch
built in metal brace really makes card stiff. No sag. This thing is a beast.

Cons: A little pricey for an 80 series card
I'll update my review if I start having issues as some others have had.

Other Thoughts: I was hesitant to purchase this card because of the number of card failures associated with the launch of RTX. But I decided I wasn't going to let that stop me from getting one. The ROG STRIX cards are great video cards and are some of the quietest cards out there. This card is replacing a ROG STRIX 1070 ti which is a great card for 1440p, but the RTX 2080 puts that one to shame. As drivers mature and games start including ray tracing, this card should only get better. If you have a 1080 ti then this isn't the card for you. Performance of this card is on par with the 1080 ti so this won't be much of an upgrade unless you just have to have RTX. If you're going to buy an RTX card though, you can't go wrong with the STRIX.

Worked for two days

Pros: Really fast when it worked.

Cons: Had it completely turned off last night, went to work, came back this afternoon and it wouldn't boot. Black screen and the RGB lighting was not what I had left it as.

Plugged HDMI into the motherboard and the system would make it to windows. I had read that the windows update was causing issues, so I rolled it back. It worked on the reboot for approximately 10 minutes until the system crashed and would not boot again. Customer support with ASUS told me to RMA it for service, which is pretty insulting considering I've owned this card for less than a month, and have had it in my possession for less than two weeks.

Does not instill confidence in the card itself and really makes me wonder if going through the RMA process is going to lead to the same result further down the line. I paid 1300 bucks for this thing and the fact that it is dead already is ridiculous.

I get the feeling that if I return it, I'm going to be charged the extra 2 hundred dollars for it to be replaced.

This is a nightmare.

Very nice video card

Pros: Runs battlefield V on ultra High,
fans run quiet,
card runs cool

Cons: $859.00 Cha-ching, not used to paying so much for a video card that cost almost as much as a whole computer...come on industry get in touch with ur customers economics

Other Thoughts: I'm sure once the price on these cards start to come down they will fly off the shelf's, they are bad (Gratuitous cuss word here) cards. they are rather large tho make sure your case and mother board can support this beast
