Another year!

Pros: I still haven't upgraded! Came here today to Newegg to finally put this card out to pasture (will be installed in the youngest boy's system that is). 6 years on this card!

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: I want to play the newest Wolfenstein game. Tried it on this card .. NOPE! LOL

great buy

Comments: I was amazed how powerful this card is. Can't run max settings on all games but high enough you won't notice a difference.

Sometimes You DON'T Get What You Pay For...

Comments: The first person I spoke with at CS told me they would ship me a new upgraded card for all of the hassle I went through, after I sent mine in, but he didn't give me an RMA, instead told me to contact another CS rep to get the RMA. After multiple attempts I finally get to speak with this person and get an RMA, but he tells me I can't get an upgraded card just a "new" replacement of the one I bought. OK that's fine and reasonable. In the mean time I go to Best Buy and get the cheapest ATI card that would do 1080p-get absolutely flawless performance, automatically installed the drivers and no issues with the machine or crashes whatsoever entire time it was in. So I get the PNY card back and it's a dull black refurb card with a case that has no retail markings and a big "Refurbished" sticker on the pcb. I talk to the supervisor requesting the new card I was promised, which is what I paid for, she totally refuses, that was it. Meanwhile "refurb" crashes on a daily basis.
PNY, never again.

Works - 'til it trashes your MB...

Pros: Blazing fast - lots of stream processors. When it works...

Cons: Huge. Uses lotsa power.

Went out, and took my motherboard with it, spectacular explosion. Computer wasn't even doing anything, no load on card when it went. Return to PNY was a nightmare of excuses - 1st excuse, they weren't doing RMA for a month, inventory; 2nd excuse, I didn't include my invoice; 3rd excuse I can't recall, very rude customer service told me I was just outta luck... had to call corporate. Tried to snow me with "fixes" that anybody with any level of tech knowledge knows aren't real...

No company should be this hard to deal with - esp when this card has known issues that will DESTROY your MB!!

Other Thoughts: I am so sorry. Anything would have been better than this card. Cost me $$$$$ to get new MB, wasted time, many phone calls... sold my RMA unit as soon as it got here, never again.

Wish I had another for SLI

Pros: This item was my first buy as for video cards. I must say I was, and still am both very impressed with the picture, and quality. I've read mixed reviews about this card, but I guess you just have to own it to see for yourself. Movies look pretty darn good, as well as my games. With an OC tool this baby will make you smile.

Cons: Won't make me a adult hardcore p-word star, but hey I can certainly watch enough of it w/ this bad boy. ahahaha oooooo num num picture quality is so nice lol

Other Thoughts: Just wish it was a little easier on power consumption, but then again... OC

Worst ever...

Pros: When it worked, was great.

Cons: It burned up, and fried my mboard. Return was one of the worst hassles I ever had, excuses, excuses.

1st excuse: they weren't doing RMAs for a month while they inventoried the vast amount of products.

2nd: Online RMA status didn't work, I had to email them and ask if everything was OK. They could have said then that I didn't include my invoice (I think I did!) and I could have faxed/ emailed / it to them, but they said everything was OK and then my old, broken, card, poorly packed, shows up here and a note "no invoice enclosed"

Other Thoughts: The entire RMA process is designed to not get me a replacement product. If this is how they treat those who purchase premium products, watch out.

Fantastic card for the price!

Pros: Great FPS on almost any game maxed at most resolutions. I run a monitor at 1440 x 900 and modern warfare 2 runs at about 60 to 100 Frames per second with everything maxed and 4X AA. Pretty much can max any game except crysis and a few of the poorly optimized port games. If you just wanna play all the games at great settings this is the card to get. Install is a breeze, and has low power requirements.

Cons: Not DX11, but its cheap and high quality so who cares. We don't really have anything to show off DX 11 yet anyway. Big, but not really any bigger than my Geforce 8800GT.

Other Thoughts: Great card for the money, if you're more into getting to play games at settings that look way better than consoles, without spending 500 bucks, this is the card for you.

An excellent card built on solid technology.

Pros: First, a bit of history. This card is built upon proven, reliable, excellent technology. The 8800 GT and 9800 GT are identical cards, based on the G92 core, 65nm revision, and NV shuffled the technology into the superior 55nm process (less heat, meaning higher clock speeds), releasing these cards with the so-called "G92+" or "G92b" core as the "9800GTX+". This is what this card is based on, essentially the best of the Geforce8 and Geforce9 technology, renamed "GTS 250" by marketing to sound more modern and new. Make no mistake, it IS a 9800GTX+ -- they are absolutely identical, excepting possibly some thermal power saving resulting in lower operating wattages, and more variance allowed for vendors to release products with various (almost always lower) clock speeds. This card runs at the full 9800GTX+ clocks and is a fantastic purchase if you can't afford (or find) a GTX 260. Runs cool with fan forced @ 50% -- 2 hours of 1080p gaming in Borderlands yielded 68C max in Storm Sniper case.

Cons: No cons except possibly that the fan is loud at full volume, if you have poor case cooling or a warm room you may have to deal with a fairly high level of fan noise. Not powerful enough to run Crysis (or Metro 2033) at resolutions higher than 1680x1050 with high settings, but at this price, this is hardly a con. This is my fourth card based on G80/G92 technology, and they've all been great. It's hard to find a real con with this technology when you accept that, as older technology, it is not "enthusiast" level and you will be forced to run at "less than maximum" settings for some newer games... but usually still near max!

Other Thoughts: I purchased this card -specifically- to use while my Gigabyte GTX 260 Super OC is in RMA. It handles almost all modern games perfectly well @ 1080p. I played Borderlands all weekend @ 1080p maxed out in DX10 mode with ini tweaks for extra visual quality and there were only a few scenes when the framerate went below 30fps (gigantic messy battles during the final mountain trek) and then only to 26-27fps, and only for seconds at a time. TF2 maxed out with 4xAA = no problem. GRID, Dragon Age, The Witcher, all ran perfectly maxed out. That's fantastic for what is "old" technology, but it just shows how awesome the 8800 was when it first came out. It -still- holds its own in 2010! The GTS250 is a great gaming value and will easily play anything out there @ 1080p or below (1680x1050, 1440x900, etc) resolutions, usually maxed out!

Intel X25-M SSD and WD 640 BLACKS
Antec NEO ECO 620
Philips 52" HDTV 1080p
