Works well it seems

Pros: Been running it for about a week, so far so good. The passive cooling cought my eye while I was looking for a new video card, so far this card has not been a disappointment. The temperature of the card goes to about 50degrees C when I am playing games, and I am fine with that. WoW plays well at full screen with a 24' and 17' dual monitor setup.

Cons: None so far, card is a bit large but that should be something you know before you buy it and make sure it can fit in your case.

Other Thoughts: Have yet to run any heavy graphics intense games. Will try that later.

I'm glad I bought this when is was selling for $149 and not the current price of $259. (What happened Newwegg/ECS?)

good cooling

Pros: The big heatsink works well for completely passive cooling; I didn't bother using the fans.

Cons: Despite Nvidia's hype about PureVideo, it doesn't work on WinXP - their XP drivers don't have any effect in this area & Nvidia doesn't really seem to care since they know about this but haven't done anything to fix it. The same card installed in Vista does work very well with video processing. This isn't ECS' fault, however. Driver support is solely the responsibility of Nvidia. If you are interested in using this in an HTPC, you should steer clear and use ATI's 4000-series cards (with the same third-party Accelero heatsink as the one installed on this card).

Other Thoughts: I use Antec Solo case (an average sized mid-tower), and I was somewhat concerned about the size of the card before I purchased. Fortunately, the card fit into the case with about 1 inch to spare, both length-wise and height-wise. If you bought a loud graphics card, you should replace with this Accelero heatsink - very effective.

Cooling: impressive |||| Drivers: not so much

Pros: Runs fairly cool without the fans.
Runs very cool with the fans.

Cons: 1. Fan assembly wires broke during installation of the twin fans. Needed to push fan wires down into the fins of the heatsink so they wouldn't get stuck in the fan blades. The wires were unduly stiff and had no flex. Once they were bent, they weakened and snapped off, right at the fan's circuit board. No way to solder repair without melting everything. :(

Other Thoughts: 2. No boot with installation CD drivers. Stuck in 4-bit color + low res w/ECS's web site drivers. This computer system had been running great with an EVGA 6800 video card. Not impressed. Did eventually get the card installed and it seemed to run well. However, I like my new hardware to install a lot easier than this. RMA'd

Best purchase this year

Pros: I had been wanting for a while to get an 8800GT, and I'm very happy with the choice I made. I was a bit nervous about getting a passively cooled vidcard that also needs an aux power connector, but I read the reviews and decided to go ahead anyway. And I'm glad I did. The card runs at a cool 45°, or 51-52° when overclocked. And that's without the turbo fans (but I do have a side fan in my case that blows air almost directly on top of the card). Best stable overclock is 747 core/1075 memory (from the stock 650/950).

Cons: Uhh... it's big. Not a con really. I had no trouble fitting it, but I have a full tower case. Not really unexpected, I mean you want power and silent, you need big. No other cons I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Shoulda gotten two, but can't afford the second one yet. Maybe the price will come down a bit more while I wait.

Good card at a great price

Pros: - Cheap.

- Accelero S1 cooler keeps the video card at 43C idle and 49C load without the fans.

- Factory overlocked.

- Quiet.

Cons: - The fans made the video card hotter when installed, but they aren't really necessary if you have good airflow in your case.

Other Thoughts: Even though the 8800GT isn't a top card anymore, it's still a great card for today's games, and most likely games that will come out in the near future. The video card can max out any game out right now except Crysis, but can still play Crysis at high settings with playable FPS. If you're on a tight budget, this is the video card to buy.

Fits in a dell inspirion 530

Pros: I'll just talk about the fit here, the other aspects have been covered.

This card is big (tall and long), but I got it to fit in a stock Dell Inspirion 530 case by switching the sata cables and removing the plastic covers over the heatpipes. In this case, its "upside down" with the headsink below the card, not sure how much that will affect cooling. I think I'll be adding some sort of fan to this setup as well. (oh, and this is with a replacement power supply as well)

Cons: size

good buy

Pros: Awesome price for what you get in this package. Option to run silent if you have good ventilation. Card installed easily and runs as advertised.

Cons: Despite huge heatsink, you'll still need to put the fans on it unless you have a case with a side fan or some other method to move air across the heatsink. Mine was overheating during gaming so I had to put the little fans on (which brought temps down significantly)

Other Thoughts: The Arctic cooler works well but I thought it was a bit cheaply made. Several fins were bent and one of the plastic clips that keeps the heatsink from moving around was already broken when I took it out of the box.

Sweet!

Pros: Awesome price and awesome performance. Comes with a killer heatsink already attached.

Cons: It's huge. But most people know to check if it'll fit in their case before they buy it, right?

Other Thoughts: For the money, this can't be beat. Attach 1 or 2 120mm fans to the underside and you're more than set.
