EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 with iCX Technology

EVGA iCX Technology is not JUST a Cooler

It is a combination of new PCB, Thermal Modules, LED and Precision XOC.

  • Featuring a total of 11 global patents (pending and granted), iCX is efficiency perfected.
  • 9 Additional Sensors and MCU's embedded on the PCB.
  • Purposefully-directed Airflow Chambers.
  • Newly Designed Die-Cast Baseplate and Backplate.
  • Full Control Using EVGA Precision XOC.
  • EVGA's iCX is the Very Definition of Interactive Cooling.

WHY WAS iCX CREATED?

After the ACX 3.0 cooler was verified to operate within spec on Power and Memory section from independent third party testing, we determined that on an enthusiast graphics card, one thermal sensor is just not enough. On an enthusiast graphics card, equal importance should be given to the Power and Memory, not just focused on GPU. This type of thinking required a drastic change in the way thermal management is performed on a graphics card.

WITH EVGA iCX TECHNOLOGY, A NEW ERA OF PC GAMING IS COMING!

6 months, no problems - too pricey right now though

Pros: It's an absolute beast for gaming. I can't bottleneck this thing even when I try. I do mostly 1080p gaming (some 4K) and 90 fps VR. You know you have a good card when you enjoy your games to the fullest and not have to think about it.

Cons: Paid about $900 for this 6 months ago. Prices have shot up since then. I wouldn't pay $1400 for this; go with GTX 20xx instead.

Other Thoughts: Requires a good quality power supply. Even if your PSU is rated with enough wattage, make sure it's of excellent quality because this card will tax it hard. My 850 watt PSU had to be replaced shortly after installing this - not any fault of the card itself.

Worked 6 months then went bad...

Pros: Awesome at first. This was the top dog back in June when I bought it here on newegg. Watched and waited for the price to fall under $800 before I purchased it. I also watched the reviews for any issues before purchase. Even today, overall solid positive reviews. When it is working, I get 60+FPS no problem playing my World of Warcraft game. That is at 4K resolution BTW... So very happy for the first six months...

Cons: Six months later... It started to freeze up and crash my computer if under any load such as playing a game or if I benchmark it ( used Valley benchmark program ). You can maybe play for 2-5 minutes ( I only play World of Warcraft atm ) until it will freeze up and I get a black screen and same when running benchmark program. I force a reboot and it has issues rebooting as well. I use system restore and it finally stabilizes somewhat as long as the video card is not under heavy load.

Other Thoughts: I am currently doing an RMA and I pray I never have another issue a few months down the road. I would of done an upgrade to the 2080 Ti but I am hearing similar issues with that line of cards as well. For $800 I hoped for a better experience from EVGA. Clearly a bad batch of cards were sent out and mine is in that batch it would seem.

Everything works fine as long as the video demand is low. I built a gaming rig to game so I got the top dog video card that was available. Sadly, bad cards can happen. Dealing with EVGA on the RMA now. As long as the replacement is defect free, I should be OK going forward. Sucks paying the shipping and replacement fees ( refunded a few weeks later once the bad card arrives to them ). but not a lot of options at this point. Thankfully I have a secondary computer to use as this rig will be down for a few days or weeks as I go through the RMA process.

EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 - Awesome card

Pros: Excellent cooling, and peace of mind on thermals. Performance is everything it says it is. You're not reading this review for the aesthetics, you want to know numbers. Honestly it is as the Tech tubers on YouTube report. Does have LEDs that you can change the color of in Precision OCX. There is even an LED of the logo on the backplate cutout of the EVGA logo. Not much overhead room to overclock as it does come from EVGA already having been set at a higher than normal clock. Fans are pretty quiet when running, barely noticeable over case fans. Definitely a pleasure having this card. I have this paired with an ASUS G-Sync monitor and it does make my gaming experience feel more like I'm on a true gamers level.
Specs:
Intel I7 8700K @ 5 ghz
Thermaltake Riing 3.0 360 Radiator
MSI Z370 Pro Carbon
32 GB GSkill RGB memory @ 3200 mhz
GTX 1080 Ti FTW 3
Corsair HX 850
Thermaltake View 31 Case
ASUS 24" G-Sync Monitor 1080p
Corsair K70 RGB MK2 Cherry Brown switches
All Fans are Corsair LL 120 - 140 mm

Cons: Not really a con, but if you don't research the dimensional specs properly or are legally blind - you will see that this is a much larger card. So do your homework to see if it fits in your case.

Other Thoughts: I've bought EVGA cards on all of my builds and I would definitely recommend this card. The reliability factor alone is what sells me on EVGA products. I am very happy having such a nice product to game with that I can count on.

A+

Pros: Runs all the games I like to play really well usually clocking over 100fps (Doom, Destiny 2, Black Desert Online)
All the software bells and whistles are nice too. EVGA's suite of tools Precision X, Geforce Experience being the two I use the most
through precision usually have the GPU clock at 1900s and memory clock at 5500 temps stay about 40c

Cons: none that matter to me.
Fans at max can be "loud" but I can't hear them with my headphones on.
it's big, I wouldn't try shoving two into my rig

Other Thoughts: I'd buy again

Bad Product

Pros: Higher dpi.

Cons: Slowwwwwwwwww.

Other Thoughts: After all the hype. I found this video card to operate slow. I run many programs. Fallout 4, slow. Skyrim, slow page loading. In short all my programs run slow with this card. I get better results from my older card G-Force 8600.

Great card

Pros: Able to do 4K with a good CPU and chip set. Price now improving greatly. Large, but manageable. Self regulates and steps up, when needed, in heavy gaming. Very quiet.

Cons: No complaints. EVGA has excellent cards.

Other Thoughts: Great card for the standard gamer. Works hard when gaming at 4 k video settings. Advise good CPU and chipset.

Awesome

Pros: Its a 1080ti. If you are looking at it chances are you know what it is. I upgraded from an r9-290x and wow what a difference. This thing is playing everything I throw at it on Ultra Settings. Its also very quite.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I debated waiting on the newest cards to release glad I went ahead with this purchase. Cheaper and gets the job done without issue.
