With strong performance, whisper-quiet acoustics, and legendary Corsair quality, the Corsair RM Series Power Supply is the choice for your powerhouse. These PSUs are built with high-quality components, and are guaranteed to deliver clean, stable, continuous power. 80 PLUS Gold rated efficiency saves you money on your power bill, while the fully modular design with low-profile black cables allows you fast, neat builds. For optimized silence, these units are built with low-noise capacitors, and feature a Zero RPM Fan Mode which powers off the fan when load levels are light. The custom designed fan also ensures low noise operation even when it's pushed hard. Want even more? Connect it to your Corsair Link system (available separately), and you can even monitor the fan speed and +12V current directly from your desktop.

  • newegg Reliable, continuous power delivery Corsair uses high-quality internal components, and the RM650 is guaranteed to deliver clean, stable, continuous power. Power ratings are continuous, not peak, for superior protection for your valuable PC.
  • newegg 80 PLUS Gold-certified efficiency The 80 PLUS GOLD certified power supply provides high power efficiency of at least 87% at any load between 20% and 100%, saving you money on your electric bill, reducing heat in your computer's system, and prolonging its life.
  • newegg Modular Cable Design You can use only the cables you need, and leave the rest in the box for fast, easy, and great-looking builds. The low-profile, flat cable design reduces air friction and helps maximize airflow through your computer’s chassis.
  • newegg High-quality, low-noise capacitors and transformers RM Series power supplies are designed with capacitors and transformers carefully selected to eliminate coil whine and other background noise that can be annoying in quiet environments.
  • newegg Comprehensive Protection Over-voltage, over-current protection, under-voltage protection, short circuit protection, over-power protection, and over-temperature protection provide maximum safety to your critical system components.
  • newegg Optimized Acoustics The efficient design of the RM650 means minimal excess heat generation, so the fan doesn't even need to spin under low to medium loads. And when you're pushing it hard, the thermal sensor controls the fan speed to ensure that it gets the cooling it needs without any extra noise. The custom-designed fan has an optimized blade profile for low-turbulence airflow and near-silent operation, even at full speed.

Great PSU

Pros: Quiet, does what it's supposed to do, and doesn't get hot.

Cons: None. Edit: 01/28/2018 I'm getting random restarts that I have frustratingly been unable to pinpoint the issue. I'm starting to suspect it is the PSU failing after almost 5 years of usage. Had a good run.

Other Thoughts: I'm thinking I should have bought a 750w or 850w

Great Unit (Updated: Nah)

Pros: Built my first PC with this about 4 months ago. Modular cables are an absolute Godsend. I dunno how anyone would do it otherwise. Noise is undetectable. Looks great too, very solid build. No performance issues whatsoever thus far.

Cons: Cables it comes with seem to be prioritized for SLI set ups, IE, redundant power cables doubled up for a GPU. This isn't a huge deal (and totally possible I missed something cause this is my first PC build) but it does make for extra chunky cables to content with which sucks. Cables are a little hard to maneuver sometimes, this is probably more a case issue though.
UPDATE MARCH 2017:
I've started getting random restarts, which at first I thought were power outtages (those wouldn't cause a restart though, just a loss in power). Checking windows error logs it's clearly an issue with power, and not my surge protector. Really disappointed in Corsair; they shipped a friend a newer PSU and it was DOA. I have started the RMA process and I'll update, but I'm pretty surprised how many issues I've had with a company that has such a stellar reputation.

Other Thoughts: Like the other reviewer said, I had to really push the cables in, they're stiff.

5 months after...

Pros: it's modular

Cons: after 5 months, it started to rattle each time you turn it on and again when you turn it off. the rattle gets louder and longer. everything still works but the noise is really annoying. I know it's gonna die soon.

Other Thoughts: thought I was getting a quality power supply but this is the second Corsair PS and both have gave me problems. Think I'm gonna try a different brand.

Cons: Had to find a place to store the leftover cables!

Sold on modular PSUs

Pros: - The modular cable connectors are awesome. It's nice to get rid of excess cables and be able to substitute the Molex power cable with a spare SATA one.
- The PSU protected my system from an electrical short.
- It's pretty good-looking.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I had an incident where I blindly attempted to plug a USB device into the back of my machine and accidentally jammed it into an eSATA port. The PSU detected the short and kicked out the power and none of my hardware was damaged as a result.

Good PSU, Horrible Company

Pros: It works, just like any other good brand would.

Cons: Ohh forbid you need to warranty one of your many PSU's, they put you through hell and make you feel like an idiot that has nothing better to do than to waste their time making sure everything is perfect to send back...at your expense mind you. If you miss a wire that came with it, guess what...they send it right back to you. Major sub par retail stores have better service.

Other Thoughts: Have spend thousands and thousands on Corsair for my business, but guess what; not a single piece of Corsair hardware will ever make it into our machines when a company tries to run you around until you give up and just buy a new unit.

Great product! Wait to buy during $20 rebate incentive.

Pros: Decent black cables. Plenty of supplied cables. Very quiet!

Cons: The cable for the GPU/graphics card has a extra plug that isn't utilized, making cable management sloppy.

Other Thoughts: I don't have the purchase history of power supplies, to rate this against others.

Good PSU is worth a little more

Pros: This is a good PSU, which is all you can really say about a PSU.

It is modular, which is really nice and worth a little extra money. It is heavy and feels like it is made from good components, which is nice. It’s voltages all look good which is of course the point but a nice feature.

Buy a certified PSU it is worth it. I like this PSU.

Cons: If you are very weak perhaps the weight would be a con. It also does not come with a little bad to hold the extra cables like other modular PSUs sometimes do. Aside from that it’s very nice and does the job well.

Other Thoughts: Good PSU. You should buy it. Always buy a nice PSU, don’t try to save a few bucks going with a cheapo no name PSU.
