Pros: working after 7years
Cons: some time I feel I/O is slow, especially when copying large files to external HD.
Pros:
Low power use.
Fast, rarely the cause of bottlenecks
Cons: A bit old
Pros: I have this installed in the 790i ultra motherboard. Comes clocked at 3.0 ghz. and I have it clocked to 3.71 ghz. stable 24/7 on air using the core contact freezer cpu cooler. Tried it at 3.8 ghz. but BSOD. Idles 40 degrees celsius and load is 50 degrees celsius. Not bad for a 65 nm chip with a 710 mhz. overclock. Rips through all games with tri sli gtx 280 except of course for crysis.
Cons: Can't think of any.
Other Thoughts: For the price and the overclock you can achieve on this cpu, it is well worth it.
Pros: Stands up to the E8400 and might even be a better overclocker.
Cons: None apparent.
Other Thoughts: The E8500 is definitely nicer, but that's to be expected.
Pros:
Chip is great and got it on sale of NOV of '07. O/C'd to 3.4ghz on stock cooling. Was stable at 3.6 with stock cooling but wasn't too comfortable with temps.
Great price at the time. Even better deal now for budget rigs.
Cons: None.
Pros:
This processor is very fast at 3.0 ghz and the price has come down considerably.
Intel makes better processors than anyone else
Stays strong and will not let you down
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: Dont waste your money on a quad processor exspecially if your a gamer. Games aren't even accepting quad processors. So go with the speed and reasonable price on a high GHZ core 2 duo like this.
Pros: Worked great with my 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard. No issues installing. Everything is still working 1 year after I bought it.
Cons: none
