Building off the award-winning RevoDrive, the OCZ RevoDrive X2 takes performance to new heights while doubling the storage capacity for the ultimate PC experience. With a proprietary four-way RAID 0 design, the RevoDrive X2 enhances data access and maximizes bandwidth with superior data rates up to 740MB/s and up to 120,000 IOPS, nearly triple the throughput of other consumer SSDs. Unlike competing PCIe solutions, the RevoDrive X2 is bootable ensuring quicker boot-ups in addition to snappier application loading and file management. The RevoDrive X2 can accommodate a wide range of computing environments such as video-editing and other multi-media creation and management, all while providing the superior durability and reliability of SSDs.
Pros: While they worked, they were extremely quick!
Cons: Flawed design..... every single RevoDrive that I have personally owned, personally installed for clients, or other very reliable friends/fellow colleagues in the industry have all reported the same failure of 1 of the 4 sub-modules onboard die and cannot be saved with their tools... all data gets lost. The worst part about it, is many fail as early as 5mos!!! I have RMA'd many over the years (under different accounts) only to have the next one fail FAR too early again!! In FACT, I have a personal RevoDrive 3 x2 240GB brick here in my office. Maybe under NEW management someone wants to contact me about getting it replaced? Otherwise, this line has deterred all of us across the board to avoid OCZ products anymore. A lot of money over the years invested into products that rarely lasted a full year, much less compare to other SSD reliability!! Oh, and then again there is all the loss of data and loss of business/trust from clients that want to blame the middle man who builds/services all their gear!! Thanks OCZ!!!5
Pros: none, fast does not matter if it does not work
Cons: crashes, blue screens, lose all your data
Other Thoughts: rma 1st unit, second unit also bad, OZC would not rma. Terrible customer service! check reviews and forums alot of consumers are having problems with this product
Pros: Didn't take up a sata port, Made a nice light show inside the case, has decent speed.
Cons:
OCZ doesn't stand behind their flagship products.
DIdn't last a year
1st one had to be returned
didn't perform as advertised.
Not durable/Easily broken
Support ended way to soon.
Other Thoughts:
First one I got had an issue right out of the box. Newegg took care of it and replaced it. 2nd one didn't even last a year. Computer crashed corrupting some data on the drive. Now the drive will just lock up windows when the drivers are loaded. I contacted OCZ asking if they have any way to run a chkdsk on the drive. They just keep replying with... your item is out of warranty and we can't replace it. Even though I didn't say anything about replacing the drive. I even told them the drive shows to the computer, its just got a corrupt block that needs to be marked as bad by a chkdsk and it should be fine. I just got another reply that the item is out of warranty and there is nothing they can do.
I won't be purchasing anything from OCZ anymore. Other companies I have bought products for have always stood behind their products... Even more for their flagship models. OCZ won't even give you support and their toolbox utility disk, doesn't do anything but update the firmware and read smart data... Which is totally useless in just about any fixing situation with a HDD except for an incompatibility fixed by a firmware update.
OCZ also quit making driver updates and offering support for the drive. I know its been out since 2010... but, when you have a product that is supposed to last over 5 years (according to everyone's claims that SSDs will last longer than regular HDDs due to no moving parts and other stuff...) I'd think they could at least keep making drivers for it.
This is the first company I've seen NOT stand behind their flagship product, even when its out of warranty.
This is why I love ASUS.. They have always stood behind their product, flagship or not.
Feel free to buy this product or anything else from OCZ... But, be warned... Their quality is not up to par. They won't stand behind their product. And you will be spending more money in the near future.
Pros: Super Fast
Cons: Super Expensive, Life Span short.
Other Thoughts: I'm rating this drive three eggs (one egg for each year it lasted). If you can't wait a couple minutes for Windows and apps to load, than this drive is for you. My first drive failed right out of the box. My second drive lasted three years (just decided to die one day). Make sure you back up everything on this drive as when it die's, it die's. Loved the drive for the three years it worked. If you don't mind spending the $700 every three years, this drive is awesome.
Pros: Fast and easy to install
Cons:
Died after less than a year
1 of the 55GB raid volumes failed and thus rendered the entire drive useless.
Other Thoughts: Countless reseatings and reboots couldnt fix the issue. Luckily I have a spare Revo3 in myt closet to rebuild Windows while I RMA this one Hopefully OCZ will honor the RMA quickly. Otherwise I will be reposting
Pros:
This was my first SSD. Bought it in February 2011. It absolutely destroyed my previous striped RAID configuration's performance. Great boot times, and the latest games would launch and load quickly.
I loved this drive while it worked. :(
Cons:
Three major cons:
1) Uncertain whether this is strictly a fault of the RevoDrive, however, I was never able to get TrueCrypt to work with this product. TrueCrypt balked, something about insufficient memory space. I have the famous ICH10R controller on my mobo, which the RevoDrive doesn't play well with.
2) Any time I would update my motherboard's BIOS or want to reformat and do a clean Win7 installation, it was more art than science getting the motherboard to recognize the presence of the RevoDrive to enable OS installation and subsequent boot.
3) Here's the biggest problem: after 1 year, my RevoDrive began to flake out on me. Instead of seeing four separate 55 GB partitions during the RevoDrive's status indicator at boot, I would sometimes see three. Since I used my RevoDrive as my boot drive, this rendered me unable to boot my system. In these instances, I would power down, wait a bit, and reboot and it usually self-corrected after two or three tries and then run fine for a month or two. Seemed like a nuisance, gave me some good scares, but I didn't think it warranted an RMA.
However, now after slightly under 22 months of ownership, it has become an expensive paperweight. Once in a while it will recognize all four 55 GB partitions on boot (meaning I can boot into Windows); however, the system will run for a max of 5 minutes before a hard freeze followed by a BSOD.
Other Thoughts:
I am going to RMA this through OCZ Support. In the meantime to tide me over I purchased a Vertex 4 256 GB SATA SSD on sale. I was hesitant to buy another OCZ SSD given my experience with the RevoDrive, which is sad because I don't think that OCZ necessarily makes garbage SSDs. I think this product is just too "bleeding edge" for its own good, thereby tarnishing OCZ's reputation.
I loved the RevoDrive's speed yet feared and dreaded OS reinstallations, BIOS updates, anything that would "rock the boat" and cause me to spend an evening struggling to get my system to recognize my RevoDrive again.
Now that regular SSDs are so much faster than they used to be, I think I'd rather use the more industry-standard SATA SSDs and avoid the headache of PCI-E SSDs.
Lastly -- OCZ, I encourage you to update the product and driver descriptions to indicate whether Windows 8 is compatible and supported. The driver on the OCZ site currently says "XP/Vista/7" which may discourage prospective customers.
Pros:
The thing is fast. It truly does load windows up in just 5-9 seconds. It is stable, although STEAM does not like it at all. Had to put that application on another hard drive, which still worked out.
It was simple to install, and pretty nice overall since it came in a small package.
Cons:
The fact it took up a PCI-E slot was... difficult. Because I could not seat it as securely as I would have liked. It wobbled if I bumped my computer, and I would have to play with it to get it rolling again.
Major fail point here and the reason for the 3 stars is that it died 11 months after I purchased and installed it. It just died. So all my information I had saved on it, was lost. I am sure I can recover it with specific tools, but I dont have the time or the desire to try a data recovery.
Other Thoughts:
Many people complain about price, and it is high, but that did not affect the eggs. The fact it was amazing when it worked, just made it that much more awesome. Unfortunately, the fact it stopped working in under a year, irks the eggs right out of me and out of the rating.
I have two 1TB Raptors in a RAID config that is fast, but not as fast as this drive. I really wish things worked out different.

Pros: Fast, reliable. Easy to install. NO CABLES
Cons: Price was alittle high but was well worth it. (is this still a con?)
Other Thoughts: Had this drive for like 5 years and has worked perfectly. Installation was easy.
